What if...

Post by el_pombo »

When I was a kid I dreamed I was physically inside a computer game, in that ocasion the game was Dune. It got me thinking...

If you had to spend the rest of your life trapped inside a sierra game, which game would you choose?

GK1 would be my choice!

Probably GK2 (I love touring around all the locations in that game) or The Longest Journey (I love how you get to visit a near-future world and a fantasy world).

I'd spend my time in King's Quest IV. My favorite "world" - plus, it has a hot blond in the game named Rosella!

Pick just one, I might go to GK3's Rennes-le-Château. Instead I often have nightmares about being trapped in Prince of Persia.

My only problem with beeing stuck inside GK3 (aside the obvious ones) is that it's such a small universe.

I'm actually thinking on driving to Rennes-Le-Château to see how it is in real life. It's "only" 1400 km from my house (870 miles), if I do I'll post some pictures to the forum.

Prince of Persia was one of the greatest games ever, hard to believe it fitted in a low density floppy disk. :)

If I had to be trapped inside a computer game universe, it might just be QfG2 (after the hero rescues everyone, naturally). ;) I like Shapeir. :)

Hey! With my good looks and charm, I'd clearly win Rosella's heart! And besides, now that I buzz my head, there doesn't even need to be hair pixels for me!

GK3.

I'm sort of stuck there in real life anyway. Ever since there are regular flights from the Netherlands (Eindhoven) to Carcassonne I go to the area of Limoux almost every year for a week or so / high mountain climbing; top of the Bugarach, top of the Cardou, and Blanchefort which is only reachable by doing dangrous stuff, so yeah... if anyone needs bread and breakfast recommendations, hit me up. Did you know they invented
bubbly wine over there???

Oooh, fun topic.

I'm going straight for "Gabriel Knight 2" on this one. There's a place to sleep, sights to see, and lots of good food. It feels like a live-able game with very little danger. Plus I can go for pretzels and weisswurst whenever I want. Not like GK1 where I'm permanently trapped eating hot dogs in a New Orleans where it's never Mardi Gras.

In second place, I'd go for "Quest for Glory 5". As long as I don't leave town and get attacked by monsters, I can live comfortably, run on a treadmill, hang out with Toro and gorge myself on a wide variety of Silmarian cuisine. I could even settle down if I wanted to. The local thieves' guild puts a hamper on things, though.

Third place, "Leisure Suit Larry 3". Tropical resort, beautiful women, a gym, a casino, free TV and lots of real estate... it's almost perfect. Except there's barely any food in this game. I might be able to hunt down some coconuts or kill a feral pig in the jungle, but otherwise, all the tangerines and BBQ huts mentioned in the manual weren't programmed into the game. I might try LSL6 or 7 for food, but I'm wary of eating in those games (having seen the kitchens). I'll take my chances with the feral pig.

Plus plenty of exercising:

Well, if you get bored in New Orleans, you can always travel to Germany or Benin! :)
