SQ3 for me because I like the style of flying in a ship and blowing stuff up and kicking the living daylights out of Elmo. Sq2 comes in a close 2nd for me because it was the first one I grew up with and played as a kid. then Sq5 then Sq4 then Sq6. Sq4 and SQ6 were really funny because of Garry Owens and his goofy remarks.
Collector,
Was SQ5 being developed by Dynamix one of the reasons it didnt have voice acting?

(first post! woot!)
Played all 6 (starting with SQ1EGA when it first came out) and I'd have to say my favorite of them all is SQ4. The updated graphics help, but it was the storyline for me and the talkie version pushes it over the top. the Narrator (gary owens?) just adds that extra punch to it.
The one I liked the least was SQ6. Gary didn't save it for me, some of the puzzles were weird and I had computer related problems with it. I probably need to give it another try but it was a letdown after finally getting it (didn't get it until 2006).

Honestly, I'm not sure. It's really the first...2/3 of the game that I just almost can't convince myself to endure. The last 1/3 (and ending overall) is great, but...I'm not sure. It's just not as...well, fun to me as a Sierra game should be.Tawmis wrote:Whoa. What? Really? Why is that?JasefWisener wrote: The only SQ game I can honestly say that I don't enjoy is SQII.
And that's what it all boils down to for me. Whether or not a game is fun.

I'm not really sure. One of the SQ fanatics might be better able to answer that. There were other games about that time that were slated for MPC make overs, but those plans were dropped, like Longbow. If you go to the Longbow page you will find a link to the talkie demo for Conquests of the Longbow.Fender_178 wrote:Collector,

Gary Owens rocked SQ4. Some of his lines were just beyond amazing - and his delivery and tone were beyond perfect.the_doctor wrote: Played all 6 (starting with SQ1EGA when it first came out) and I'd have to say my favorite of them all is SQ4. Now I agree to some extent. SQ6 was weird, because the animation actually for Wilco didn't come across very professional looking (for me). He almost seemed 2D walking around in a 3D world. He was very flat while the backgrounds were well rounded, shiney, and complex. Also Gary Owens (if it was him again) - his lines seemed more forced - and he sounded more bored than he did sarcastic in many of his lines.the_doctor wrote: The one I liked the least was SQ6. Cool. I loved Space Quest II, myself. It wasn't my favorite. But I really enjoyed it. But it could be because this is one of the games where my then best friend and I sat up all night on many weekends playing the game together, trying to solve it - so I have that memory attached to it.JasefWisener wrote: Honestly, I'm not sure. I'd have to say SQ V.
Had a better story-line to play along IMO.

Space Quest 4. The masterpiece. It had everything I liked. Time travel, an epic return of Roger's arch-nemesis, slightly dark storyline, great humour, and Gary Owens. Excellence.

I am normally not a fan of time travel - but SQ4 did such a great job of making it fun.MusicallyInspired wrote:Space Quest 4. The masterpiece. It had everything I liked. Time travel, an epic return of Roger's arch-nemesis, slightly dark storyline, great humour, and Gary Owens. Excellence.

My favorite was SQ4, I'm a sucker for time travel, plus it was fun to be able to see two of the previous games again. ^^
