Okay - this is a pretty tough game... and I am in Act III - and I think I have found about six different ways to die so far. :o

You could do a YouTube "Let's Die" with Laura Bow.

Seriously. Act I and Act II - if there was a way to die, I didn't find it. Act III - I think I found three more ways to die, since that post. (And I keep getting wrapped up in the game, and forgetting to save, because Act III is where everyone starts dying left and right!)

I had to stop watching the video - it was too graphic!

I kid, I kid! I stopped because it was showing something I hadn't got to yet.

Side note, I finally passed Act III and am now in Act IV.

Let me say, this game has some silly puzzles... for example (since I don't remember much of Dagger of Amon Ra, I was doing random things for example) - and one of the things I did (having just used it on the mouse trap) - was smash the bone against the mirror just outside that room... Which okay, might have made sense to do (to get maybe a piece of glass!) - but to discover that there's a hidden lamp behind the mirror? How does that even make sense? I knew what the lamp was for, because I had died previously in the dark hallway. Although, admittedly, I died again with the lamp in that hallway, because I didn't turn it on first. Figured I'd have time in the hallway to do so.

Oomph the hallway bugged me. When I played it, this one secret passage I found myself and I was so proud, thinking "PROGRESS!"... and then you die.

After discovering like another 10 to 15 ways to die  I finally beat this game.

There's a couple of puzzles in this game that are pretty out there (like the one I mentioned above), and some that are painful (for example, using the snake oil on the snake in the office three times to catch it - then, not knowing you'd need it again, and failing to refill it later, and dying in the secret passage with the snakes!) Also, it was random clicking on a specific body that allowed me to find the Smelling Salts - otherwise, I would have never known they were there. But early on, I just began clicking all over the bodies, to see if there was anything hidden. Also, if you get this stuff before doing the refilling of the snake oil - it automatically kicks in Act V, which means you will dead end at that tunnel, because you won't have snake oil! And Laura pulls a move straight from LSL2, by putting an entire mummy inside her purse (Larry had put the super sized, giant, Goliath sized soda in his pocket! - Ouch! -)

I do wonder about something - in the game, there's two segments where it's using actual "speaking" audio - when the woman is singing in the Speakeasy, and then later when the followers of Ra are chanting "Amon Ra" repeatedly. Curious why more of this game wasn't made into a talkie version? And how they got those two audio files to play in what's technically not a "talkie" game?

Here's the save games, broken down by acts (each folder is an Act, labelled as such: ActI, ActII, ActIII, ActIV, ActV, and ActVI)

The end, I had made several attempts to guess who did what (I knew who the main murderer was) - but the reasons, I wasn't always sure of (a lot of "Covering up another crime") so I kept getting fumbled success... finally used my hint book to get the answers as to who (most of which I knew), but most of the why's I had wrong.

Congratulations on beating it - I failed miserably.

Laura Bow 2 is a talkie - a highly annoying talkie with the staff doing the voices. IIRC Jane Jensen voices the flapper in the women's lounge. Didn't you know that version?

Not sure. Going to have to see what I have installed - and what I don't remember (perhaps one of the Conquest games? I think I played both of those games once and beat them, never repeated on those...)

It is, definitely not an easy game! It's misleading too, because the first two acts (well, okay other than crossing the street without looking) - I didn't die. So it kind of gives a false sense of security. Act III rolls around and I felt like I died at every turn somehow!

Weird. Because mine wasn't a talkie - nor do I have an option anywhere to say I want Text over Speech.

There's both a talkie version and a non-talkie version.
