One of the more egregious unresolved issues with QG4CD is Franz' spoken, and broken, introductory dialogue. Not only does the played audio sample lack any resemblance to the text, but it's not even from the same character, and is instead one of Ivan's lines from later in the game.
Having looked at the relevant map, msg, and audio files, the problem isn't the result of a coding error, but rather, an incorrect and duplicate sample - almost as if the one intended for Franz had been inadvertently overwritten during production. This being the case, a correct A08Y0A43.032 recording just needs to be created, converted, and placed into the "patchdir" for substitution, ideally in the same 11025Hz, 16-bit mono, ADPCM format as everything else.
Jess Harnell, of some fame, provided the voice for Franz in the style of Rodney Dangerfield. Try as I might, I just can't seem to cut it as a replacement. Would it be worth trying to see if Jess could provide the missing line, or is there any chance one of you have some heretofore unknown talent you'd be willing to share?
Given the liberties taken with by the voice actors, the written line of "I be Franz. I am wealthy garlic grower." might be better spoken as something like "I'm Franz. I'm a wealthy garlic grower, you know, but let me tell you, I get no respect!"
Thoughts?

What was the text? I don't remember. Some of the lines may have been ad libed during the recording, but I would have thought that they would have edited the text to match. How much does the text from the floppy version match up with that of the CD?

Hi Collector,
The written text is "I be Franz. I am wealthy garlic grower," whereas the accompanying speech sample is Ivan's, "I'm tellin' ya, Igor's death must be avenged!" line.
The following YouTube gameplay example may be worth a thousand words:

Nice to see you here at SHP. I guess that I never noticed the difference since I never play with the text enabled. Not sure why I didn't notice the seemingly non sequitur response. But then it has been a number of years since I have played the game through in its entirety.

Hmm... I've noticed that one many times before, but since it was a one-off, I never thought too much about it.

I always liked the three ad-libbers. I particularly liked Ivan's "Pooooooooor Igor".
