GK3 won't install on Vista

Hello,
I've been dying to play GK3 again for a very long time,
Seems like I'm having a problem installing it, any help would be great.

I have windows vista, it's a rather new laptop computer (vaio z-500, if that's relevant),

I'm autorunning cd1, chose the "Install" button, then vista asks me if I'm trusting this program, and I Allow it, then it's loading for a few seconds, and then nothing happens, it just loads and then stops loading, no setup or installation window ever comes up.

I was looking for someone with similar problems on this forum and on Google and all I could find was somebody who said that after a some time passed it suddenly started installing, I've kept it up all night, a few times but nothing ever happened, I've also tried running the setup file directly from the cd but that didn't help.

I'm really desperate to play this game, please help !

Have you tried installing with admin rights? Compatibility mode? Don't install in the Program Files folder.

Yes. I have launched the setup.exe file as administrator with every single compatibility mode and as an administrator.

And about the program files folder, I can't even reach the point where it asks me in which folder I want to install the game, all that happens when I launch the installation is it loads for a few seconds then nothing happens. I did notice that when I go to the task manager it opens a process called "csrstub.exe" which under description says "allows lua to launch 16-bit applications".

Please help, it can't be that I'm doomed to never play that game again

there might be issues with 16 bit installers if you don't have Service Pack 1 installed.

If all else fails, you could install it in a virtual machine, like Virtual PC and transfer the files over to your harddrive. It doesn't really need to be installed, just on the harddrive.
