phantasmagoria 1 on 64bit vista
phantasmagoria ran on 32 bit windows and i found a no cd german installer which elimated disk swapping which was great but now that installer does not make the game run in 64 bit. i could use DOSBox but the game doesnt support multiple cd drives so would have to run with cds in the drive rather than DOSBox virtual drives and i find every fmv game i have ran in DOSBox with cds has been real slow and makes the sound stutter and id rather not play with my scratched to death cds anyway! so would be awesome if someone could make a DOSBox nocd installer for phantasmagoria 1 like the ones on this site for the other sierra games or even a windows installer that works on x64, thanks.

Welcome to the forums. Phantasmagoria 1 is a 16 bit game, so you will need to use an emulator to play it on 64 bit Windows. It might be possible to use the no-CD installer you found to concatenate the discs and add the DOS files. You would still need to edit the RESOURCE.CFG to setup the game and to point to its own folder for the resources.
I may take a look at this to see about writing an installer, but it may not be for a couple of weeks.

hi thanks for the reply, yeah i tried messing around with the files that are installed from the dos version and the directory the game is installed into from the nocd installer to try and convert it to the dos version but couldnt get it working - i got a menu screen at some point but the opening title didnt work i got sound and it appeared to work but then froze until i alt tabbed out and in again then i got into the menu then it asked for a cd when i tried to start a game!
it actually works ok in DOSBox when running from the cds just gotta do the ctrl f4 thing upon switching cds, the movies arent nearly as choppy as the beast within and the tex murphy games are in DOSBox from the cds, still like to get it working from the hard disk for the sheer heck of it though lol.
edit here's the installer if someone else wants to mess around with it

Re: phantasmagoria 1 on 64bit vista
I have already started on a DOSBox installer. It works, but I need to do a few things before I release it. It allows for full harddrive installation. I will be including a couple of utilities to convert it into a package ready for burning to DVD and to configure DOSBox, much like my GK2 installer.

Re: phantasmagoria 1 on 64bit vista
cool thanks for that
when i installed the dos version in DOSBox and used the default midi soundblaster sound it selected i got terrible midi music so i selected general midi device instead and i got good midi music out of it instead. the voices were ok with the soundblaster default choice however. i say this because the midi music adds allot of atmosphere to the game especially in the end sequence!

My installers always use optimized settings.

cool, hows the installer coming along?
Re: phantasmagoria 1 on 64bit vista
It works, but there is a bug that I need to sort out before I release it. It crashes when you go into the settings to save the game.
