Hello, everyone!
It's great to be here among other adventure gamers and this is a great source to be able to play the old Sierra games on modern computers!
I've been having a problem with the King's Quest Collection Series (1997) installer, though. Whenever I run it, it throws me a message which reads "A third party installer has stopped working" and stops.
I first had that problem with I tried to install King's Quest V. Then I manually put the installer as an exception for Data Execution Prevention, and it worked (and the game runs great! Thank you, Collector!!!!!!!!)
However, when I run the same installer to install King's Quest VI and King's Quest VII, the aforementioned problem appears again, even after adding the installer as an exception for Data Execution Prevention.
I know this might be a problem with Windows 10, but if anyone knew of a way to override it, I would greatly appreciate it.
Here's a screen of the problem:

It's odd - I can't even find that error anywhere on the web... So I will wait until Collector comes along to see if he knows more.

Nope. I turned off the antivirus and run the program as administrator, but the problem still appears. I don't know why it let me install "King's Quest V" (after many attempts). I guess I will keep trying, or maybe I will try to install the games manually and run them with DOSBox.Collector wrote:Does "Run as administrator" help?

Not that I know of. I'm installing the game in a "G" drive, under a "Games" general folder. I have the operating system in the "C" drive.Collector wrote:You aren't installing under a system directory are you?

Do you have the User Account Control turned on? Are you installing from a regular user account or an admin account?

I don't know if I have User Account Control turned on. I will have to check that out when I get back home later.Collector wrote:Do you have the User Account Control turned on? Are you installing from a regular user account or an admin account?
I'm installing from an admin account and I also choose "Run as an administrator" when I run the installer. What puzzles me is that I was able to install "King's Quest V" the one time the problem didn't occur. I should try to identify what did I do different so it could work that time.
