If you've played Dragonlance and you hear the Kender in your party say "Oops."

No, never played Dragonlance (and I don't know what a Kender is). What is it?
But "Oops..." Well... that's never good.

Oh dear.... yes, I had a feeling that kender were somewhat alike to halflings, insofar as picking locks, defeating traps and "borrowing" other people's stuff goes.

It's their immunity to fear and overzealous curiosity that is the main problem!Rath Darkblade wrote:Oh dear.... yes, I had a feeling that kender were somewhat alike to halflings, insofar as picking locks, defeating traps and "borrowing" other people's stuff goes.

Fighting a four armed troll can be certain death...
(We played D&D last night... and that troll reduced me to -5 HP... though the Paladin did Lay on Hands, brought me up to 5, then the Cleric healed me for another 15)...

Re: The D&D Corner!
In my previous campaign I ran in my D&D world, during the Age of Exploration, early on in the game, I mentioned the party seeing a spherical thing, with eye stalks floating above the ground, near the canyon path they had to cross. My wife, the only one among the players, who is super familiar with D&D was like, "We have got to hide! Now! That thing is bad news!" Now normally I strongly disapprove of meta gaming (having outside knowledge, your character would not be familiar with) - but I chuckled, because it was merely a gas spore, but they were all super panicked based on my wife's reaction.Rath Darkblade wrote: 35. Re: The D&D Corner!
My last campaign, once again, the party's wizard was not able to play, so I had him abducted by the NPC - when the party got to a door with magical runes on it and couldn't figure out to decipher it - the dwarf touched the door and got his soul trapped in a jar. So he was forced to play a captive NPC for awhile, until the party was able to free his soul from it's binding.Rath Darkblade wrote: 40. "To hell with listening at the door! I just rip it open!"

Gas spore = beholder? Not necessarily.
Uh-oh... first rule of adventuring: never touch unfamiliar glowing runes.

Eh? Gas spores (from that illustration, anyway) don't have a big mouth full of sharp teeth...

That is the main difference... Though, there are some drawn with a mouth...Rath Darkblade wrote:Eh? Gas spores (from that illustration, anyway) don't have a big mouth full of sharp teeth...
But generally speaking, there's no mouth and this is how they look in 5th edition (so it's more clear that it's not eye stalks at the top, but fungus, but impossible to really tell at a distance)...
