[Masquerade Locked] Lyrical Genius II: Electric Boogaloo.
This works similar to the original Lyrical Genius.
But this one has a twist.
Someone will post a one to four lines of lyrics from a song they enjoy... the next person that replies, needs to include at least ONE word from the previous lyrics, and post their chosen song lyrics... And then the next post would take one word from those lyrics, and post the next set of one to four lines of lyrics, from whatever song they want... Like the previous Lyrical Genius game, there's no need to guess the song or lyrics. Simply tie at least ONE word between the different set of lyrics.
So for example, if I posted...
"I am the way, I am the light, I am the dark inside the night..."
The next person could post:
"Teach me where to go, Tell me will love be there, Yea, Yea, Yea Oh, heaven let your light shine down"
(Both sets of lyrics have the word "light")...
So then the next person might post...
"Look at me now, I'm a man who won't let himself be, Down in a hole, feeling so small"
(Both lyrics have the word "down").
So on and so on.
One rule - Please use only English songs. Some of you fancy pants people know some foreign songs, that would make it difficult to tie lyrics to it.
So I will begin:
In a darkened graveyard glows a light.
I see it shine there every night.
I know somewhere there's a hidden door.
There's an answer here we must explore.

Mrs. White, you've been paying our friend, the blackmailer, ever since your husband died under, shall we say, mysterious circumstances?

I'm going to shine like the sun when these clouds roll away from my door.
I won't crawl, I can run, I won't be at your mercy no more.
I won't crawl, I can run, I won't be at your mercy no more.
"I used to enjoy pushing people into the moat...still do!"

Black Hole Sun, won't you come
and wash away the rain?
and wash away the rain?
Husbands should be like Kleenex: soft, strong and disposable.

Like a fool out in the rain, hanging on somehow, to an ancient vow
Where there's nothing left to gain
And do you know, how it feels inside
To be all alone, a fool and his pride
Where there's nothing left to gain
And do you know, how it feels inside
To be all alone, a fool and his pride

Early morning, April four
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

The future couldn't last, we nailed it to the past
With every word a trap that no one can take
Back from all the architects who find their towers leaning
And every prayer we pray at night has somehow lost its meaning
For is this the answer to our prayers, is this was God has sent?
Please understand this isn't what we meant
With every word a trap that no one can take
Back from all the architects who find their towers leaning
And every prayer we pray at night has somehow lost its meaning
For is this the answer to our prayers, is this was God has sent?

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
To the neon God they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming

Ye people, rend your hearts; rend your hearts and not your garments.
For your transgressions, the prophet Elijah has sealed the heavens
through the word of God.
I therefore say to ye: forsake your idols, return to God
for he is slow to anger, and merciful, and kind, and gracious
and repenteth him of the evil.
(Obadiah, from Mendelssohn's beautiful oratorio "Elijah"; here is a very good example. I've been practicing this one for several weeks, so it was kind of stuck in my head).

Are the luckiest people in the world.

A man only sees want he wants to see
When he's in his mind
Where he is that he wants to be
Living in a world where he's safe from reality
Won't you take a chance on this night
And follow me
When he's in his mind
Where he is that he wants to be
Living in a world where he's safe from reality
Won't you take a chance on this night
And follow me

It's my own desire
It's my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the most
of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world
It's my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the most
of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world

Nothing is so good it lasts eternally
Perfect situations must go wrong
But this has never yet prevented me
Wanting far too much for far too long

Something wrong, something right, something missing
Something black, something light, something different
Don't you ever feel you need to speak to me that way?

Broken bottles under children's feet
Bodies strewn across the dead end street
But I won't heed the battle call
It puts my back up, puts my back up against the wall
Sunday, bloody Sunday...
(etc.)

Don't run off in the pouring rain
Don't call me as they call your plane
Take the hurt out of all the pain
Take me to a park that's covered with trees
Tell me on a Sunday, please
Don't call me as they call your plane
Take the hurt out of all the pain
Take me to a park that's covered with trees
Tell me on a Sunday, please
