About 6/7 years ago I used the Collector's DVD installer to create a DVD package of Gabriel Knight 2, based on the original 6 CD's. The DVD auto-runs, with Collectors installer integrated and creates a fully playable version of Gabriel Knight 2 using DOSBox.
I have now, after several years, tried to install Gabriel Knight 2 on Windows 10 and it still works as a charm. Only one issue is that the sound quality of the movies varies a little bit. Movies that are supported by music sound fine, but the ones without have a soft static in the background, which can become a bit annoying over time.
Is this something that has been recognized by others? And can it be that the installer has updated certain (DOSBox) settings over the last couple of years, that aren't yet applied in my DVD package?
Thanks for the help,
Best regards,
Subbi

Funny, another thread popped up about Phantasmagoria audio issues.

I think the white noise you are hearing is a result of the audio being played back at a lower bitrate than what can be done now. It was the best that they could do with the technology at the time and manifests itself as a persistent hiss. It gets drowned out by the music (which is probably being generated via the sound card and not part of the videos audio) which is why you don't notice it.

Thanks for the replies. I've tried running the game in ScummVM, and although it is hard to do a scene by scene comparison, it appears to be less of an issue in scummvm. Can be a perception thing obviously. Shame that scummvm doesn't allow for the subtitle patch to be utilized, otherwise I would simply be playing in the game in scummvm.
