Two Guys Are Back! SPACEVENTURE!

In Space No One Can Hear You Clean, er, Scream. But if you post in this forum about Space Quest - someone's sure to hear you. I think. Try it, anyway!

Which game? SpaceVenture? That's the one Mark Crowe & Scott Murphy did for a kickstarter.
Ah... hmm. The last I posted in this thread was in 2016, which may account for why I don't remember what SpaceVenture is. ;)

Googled it, looked it up, and read all about it, though. So...

Set Rath.SpaceVenture(Enlightened) == True;
If Rath.SpaceVenture(Ignorant) == True
Then Set Forum.Shouting("ExtraExtraReadAllAboutIt") == True;
End If

So the relatively huge news that the Two Guys from Andromeda, makers of the Space Quest series, had come back together for the first time decades to design a new game you just...filed away as "unimportant to remember"? lol

To be fair, updates have been pretty sparse...

But on that note, bring up an oldie...

Sparse updates notwithstanding, it was a pretty momentous event. Especially considering they were a tad estranged, at least on Scott's part.

Well, it has been six years since this all started. I can forget someone's name within several days.

Fair enough. I guess I just don't relate to that....I remember the games I played when I was 6 years old, let alone six measly years ago. lol :P Of course, not everyone's like me.

Chances are Rath didn't back the KS... so he's not sitting on his hands, like the rest of us, waiting for these past six years, for this game to come out. :lol:

But following that Ace Hardway guy on twitter is a good way to be reminded too, if anyone has twitter! Especially when he and Larry Laffer get into it. Like most recently! ;) :lol:

Hmm. Considering that I never even got to play SQ4 or SQ5 until a few days ago - and the first (and last) time I played SQ1, 2 and 3 were in the mid-90s, when I could see age 20 in my rear-view mirror................... ;)

Sorry. :P I never even got to try any Sierra games until I was 13 or so, and my parents weren't gamers so it wasn't something I could share with them. :(

It was also a matter of what I could afford (not much) and who I could play with (not too many people). Not many of my high-school chums were gamers, or if they were, they didn't say so in public, for fear of being ostracised. You know the sort of thing - "NERD!" :P followed by being bullied or bashed-up. :evil: Gosh-darn public school system, forcing everyone to conform and play sport regardless of whether they liked it or loathed it, and making fun of those that weren't good at sport and didn't care. :evil: F*** the education system in this country and F*** the public in this country for being sheeple and toeing the line. :evil:

Anyway, back when I was young(er), the Sierra games I played were Quest for Glory (because I was into RPGs), Police Quest 1 and 2 (because it was fun to try), and Leisure Suit Larry (because... go on, guess). :P

Space Quest came (much, much) later. I didn't (couldn't) even touch King's Quest until I was in my early 20s, and even then, it was only KQ4, 5 and 6 - which is why I loved it when ADG did a VGA re-make of KQ1, 2 and 3, because I'd never even seen those games. :( I've missed a lot, I can see.

OTOH, I did get to see quite a lot of the early games on Atari and Commdore 64. Frogger, Dr J vs Larry Bird, Tennis, International Soccer etc. Nostalgia... ;)

Yeah but this was mostly about wanting to say that SpaceVenture is coming out with an update.
