Anyone have experience with the Raspberry Pi?

Post by Tawmis »

I was thinking of buying one and getting something like this clear case for it, for the sole purpose of having a small "computer" to put some of the Sierra Games on. (So I'd install them onto a USB key, then insert the USB Key into it). Then use a USB (ideally wireless keyboard/mouse via the other 2 USB slots) to play the games, via HDMI to the television.

Thoughts?

I have been playing with the idea of buying one myself as well, as it would give me a totally different CPU type to play with (ARM instead of intel/amd x64).
My main reason to not buy it is that I don't have enough free time to play with it at the moment.

So if you want to play sierra games on it, you will have to use things like DOSBox as the cpu is different from the cpus that sierra games were orginally coded for.

Oh, I'd have no problem with the idea of using DOSBox. (I was assuming I would have to anyway).

Just wasn't sure if anyone had tinkered with it yet - and the difficulty of it, as I know nothing about it. Was just looking for an easy way to play Sierra games from the living room. :)

I've eaten some Raspberry Pi (sorry).

Seriously, I've not had any experience at all with this. But it sounds like a neat idea. :)

I'm just waiting for the Lemon Tart Pi. And the Key Lime Pi. And... ;)
