Just because I think these threads are fun for discussion -
If you were tapped as someone who had to make a Quest for Glory spin off - using one of the existing characters that isn't a main character (so in this case, the main hero) - who would you make it about?
Essentially it'd be a way to create a game to develop and focus on another character, other than the main character(s).
So if you couldn't think of a game idea, who (aside from the main character(s)) do you wish you knew more about?

Re: Designing a Quest for Glory Spinoff -
Sonny? This isn't the PQ thread...
How about the adventures of Rakeesh as a young liontaur? We could see his battle with the Demon Wizard. Maybe we could see Rajah, the fat king of Tarna, as a young liontaur, questing with Rakeesh to save the world!
How about the adventures of Uhura, after she was forced out of the SImbani village because she was going to have baby Simba?
How about... what Rakeesh et al. get up to during QfG4. (Maybe they battle a Pizza Elemental, are victorious, and then have a pizza party!)
How about... the opposite - Quest for Iniquity! We get to see a young Ad Avis before QfG2, when he was enslaved by Katrina. (Remember - at the end of QfG2, he calls out to his "master" (i.e. Katrina) to save him?)
How about... Quest for Perversity! The naughty adventures of Nawar and Budar, as they travel the lands after the end of QfG2, on their way from Raseir to Silmaria! Along the way, they'll... do whatever it is that harem girls do. Ahem. (I can't go into details - there are young 'uns about, y'know).
How about... we can go back to where it all began! At the start of QfG1, we meet Wolfgang Abenteur, the retired adventurer who mightily slew a gryphon, handily overcame a cheetaur, strongly slaughtered a troll, wistfully overcame a dragon (with baron von Spielburg), and who was personally almost flattened by an antwerp. We could see his adventures, as he strives to make Spielburg a dangerous place for monsters!
Just some ideas...

Re: Designing a Quest for Glory Spinoff -
I do think the QfG universe has many interesting stories to tell. Beyond what was already mentioned, Erana's travels would be worth seeing. My concern is just that, if you're playing as an established character, that would mean losing the customization and choices that made QfG special. You can't play Rakeesh as a sneaky thief.
So I'd still go, as mentioned in the hypothetical sequel thread, with a new, fresh hero in an unknown world. It wouldn't have to involve any established character, but I think that would still qualify as a spin-off.
I don't think any of the other Sierra series really have any spin-off potential. They just lack the necessary worldbuilding. They tend to be very self-contained, with everything having a purpose only within that game, rather than hinting at a greater universe beyond it.

A Katrina origin story might be interesting - exploring her life before she was a vampire and after she became one, the evolution of her powers and her descent into darkness.

Ooh! Descent into darkness - that could be a great title for the game! =-D
"Quest for Vampires - Darkness Descending!" =-D
Or maybe I'm just talking tosh, as usual. =-P

Prior to their Hero-U Game Kickstarter, Lori Cole used her School For Heroes blog to discuss the women of the Quest For Glory series, starting on August 28, 2012:Semi-Happy Partygoer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 11, 2018 4:07 am A Katrina origin story might be interesting - exploring her life before she was a vampire and after she became one, the evolution of her powers and her descent into darkness.

Along with the brief overviews for covering QFG1–QFG4, Lori also focused specifically on the two influential female characters in Hero's life for QFG4: Erana and Katrina. While she expanded both of their backstories, unfortunately Katrina's story remains incomplete because this was around the same time the Coles start the Hero-U Kickstarter. Because it has taken up so much of their time over the last 6 years, it's unknown if/when Lori can resume her blog (if she even still has any interest). I would love for her to continue the in-depth backstories for the various QFG characters she and Corey created...

Young Rakeesh would be cool. Maybe as a hotheaded warrior before he found his calling as a paladin.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Tue Jul 10, 2018 5:44 am Sonny? This isn't the PQ thread...
