KQ3 Cheats section error

Post by MusicallyInspired »

I noticed on this section of the website http://www.sierrahelp.com/Cheats/KQ3Cheat.html it mentions that the version that comes with the KQ collection has most of the debug commands disabled. This isn't correct. For the 3-disc KQ Collectors Series package "rats ass" enables the debug and all the cheats work including "gimme gimme". (game version is 2.14, incidentally) The 1994 KQ collection also has the same version of the game and it works there as well, a source of mine says. Also just tried the Steam collection (both standard and legacy - which is the 2006 collection - launchers) and they both use V2.14 as well, and all commands work.

Also, the page is missing a ton of commands that all should work like "give object" (which gives inventory items).

Collector must have fixed the first part about rats ass and such, because I don't see where it mentions specific versions not working. (I just tested KQ3, v2.14 and can verify that "rats ass" and "gimme gimme" work... though gimme gimme kills you instantly if the wizard hasn't taken off to go to sleep)

I haven't paid attention to that page for very long time. The Debug Modes articles on the Wikis give more info. I'll see about updating the regular page when I get some time.

Halfway down the page just after the first table of debug codes (of which there are many missing) it says this:
NOTE: the version that comes with the KQ collection, then only the TP and SHOW VAR cheat works.

Either that, or just put a link on the page that says, "See the KQ3 Wiki for more." And link to the Wiki.

So you're not updating two places.

Or just redirect straight to the wiki?

I made a list of object numbers for the "GET OBJECT" debug command. May do the same with room numbers for the "TP" command.

Technically, you can cheat in almost any Sierra game. (probably half of them, actually. You can't in the VGA games, but anything EGA certainly)

As MI said, almost all of the EGA games have a "debug" mode that allow you to do a wide assortment of commands... and one of them is permanently putting Mahananahyaanahahananahan to "sleep."
