King's Quest 2 on DOSBox?

Post by RetroDude »

Hi,

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this ... if not, please point me in the right direction.

Over the years, I've had great success with DOSBox and running classic games, but I've never been able to get KQ2 to run correctly under DOSBox. Regardless of whether I try to run it straight from the floppy, or install it to the mounted C: drive, when I start the game, it tells me to insert the original disk in drive A for authentication. I do that (and yes, I do have the original 3.5 floppy :) ), but it never proceeds past that point.

I've gone as far as downloading the current DOSBox installer file from the Sierra site, but it still gives me the same problem once I go to run the game.

Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks.

The message is from the game's CPC disk protection. You can use Cold Turkey's AGI DiskFree Decryptor.
