Thank you! For getting the yellow to white - it's using the "Color Dipper" (where you click on a color with the eye drop icon thing) - and tell it to replace it with white, then color replace where ever you need to with the brush. And rinse and repeat until you get most of the shades of yellow out of the photo. And the result is (because I am taking out so many yellows) - it causes those "dots" where the yellow (in the yellow image) is a part of the shading. I typically try to go in later and touch those up after I finish with some smudging.
Oh, I see - you had meant in the actual (real colored) cover. Yeah. Back then comics were colored by "dots" to give the illusion of specific colors. Red and white dots would give a pink appearance, for example, rather than using pink ink. As Collector said, like dithering. It's also the quality of the scan (I grabbed that from google). If I scanned my copy it'd probably have a much smoother appearance.

I am always envious of people who can draw, or even colour. I tried it once, when I was young and stupid - never had the patience. (I told you I was young and stupid). 
I am very envious of people who can draw. My friend Lindsay Archer has that talent. When she was visiting San Diego, we went to one of those restaurants that have the table covered in paper - and in 2 seconds she drew this amazing horse photo that was beautifully shaded. So, Belasco (the villain cutting the cake) - is doing so because it's... what's the right word? A reference? A nod?... to when you cut the cake. Ka-Zar (the guy in the tux with the knife) and Shanna (the woman in the bridal gown) are supposed to be references to being a wedding decoration toppers (that sites on the top of the cake - sort of like this). Er, I think there was some misunderstanding here. What I am puzzled about is the person in the bottom right, just below Shanna. He has blond hair, and is wearing a kind of bronze armlets and a bright blue cape, and it looks like he is "headbutting" the cake. 
(Unless Shanna has a horse's tail?) There is no one to the right of Shanna. It's the front of her dress and her leg (with a knife being held near her ankle). I think what you're seeing that's "behind" her is the inside of the cake (the yellow stuff) being torn apart by Belasco cutting the cake. Or perhaps I'm completely mistaken and "he" is part of Shanna? In that case, his cape is part of Shanna's dress, his arm is Shanna's leg, and his blond hair is ... not something I'd like to speculate about!
Also, upon reviewing the picture, I'm surprised to see that Shanna's wedding dress has armoured sleeves. Was she expecting trouble, maybe?
