Looks like it's coming along well, Tawm. Well done. :) You must have spent all your red just on Belasco's cloak.

Hmm. Who are the other people (i.e. on the back cover, then)? I can see a woman with golden shoulder-guards (epaulets?), who is strangling a guy with a widow's peak. Just above them is a pterodactyl, a sabre-tooth tiger and ... a giant, I guess? To the right (just to the left of Ka-Zar) is a cave opening (I think), in which we can see another guy and some kind of demonic-like ... thing? (Or maybe it's a gargoyle?)

By the way, the woman to the extreme left (who strangles someone) originally had golden epaulets. In your version, she has bronze ones. (Deflation, perhaps?) ;)

The Sabretooth Tiger is Zabu (Ka-Zar's best friend), the green flying guy is Sauron (villain), the "purple giant" is just one of the beings that live in the Savage Land.
For the life of me, I can't remember the other characters on the back. This was the only issue (I remember) ever picking up of Ka-Zar, and it was solely because Belasco was on the cover (and he had appeared in Uncanny X-Men #160, in one of my favorite stories there). The X-Men have gone to the Savage Land (a portion of the Arctic that's not frozen, and actually still has dinosaurs, and other extinct animals, like sabretooth tigers) plenty of times, and always encounter Ka-Zar; but the rest are characters unique to his own comic series.

As for the coloring difference; sometimes I will change the color of something, if I think it makes it more ... dramatic... or contrast in colors. Like if I use too much "yellow/gold" - I will make someone's an off shoot, just so it looks different.

Hold on just a second... Sauron (a villain)? As in this guy? All right, he named himself Sauron (after the villain from the LOTR books), but I'm just thinking... how come Tolkien's estate didn't sue for breach of copyright? ;)

Well, I don't think they can sue for a name... especially since this Sauron isn't a wizard, and has nothing related to the Tolkien Sauron, other than both are villains. :)

It took, over all, about four to five hours. (It's a long time, yes, but helped me relax my brain).

The plus side is, while doing it - I learned a nice trick that makes future coloring efforts insanely easier.

Nice work! I should look this into this series, never invested much in Belasco's story.

I dont think that it is Sauron in that image btw - he is depowered and living as a human between Marvel Fanfare 2-4 early 80s and X-Force early 90s. it is just one of the Pterons depicted there - some sort of half-human half-pterenadon race in the savage land that figure greatly in Ka-Zar vol. 1.

You may be right; though Sauron has lost and regained his "powers" so many times, it's difficult to tell.
.... And checking, you are correct - it's simply the Pterons!

As for Belasco - check out Uncanny X-Men #160, then Magik #1-4.
That's what got me hooked on the character.

Renamed the title of the thread as I will probably be posting more coloring things - like today, I have done two so far.
