King's Quest Play Through - Commentary.

Is the game being a ROYAL pain? Need a hint? Got a problem? This is the place to discuss King's Quest!

Just used the GoG version, which doesn't appear to be the Hi-Res version.

But the "Girl in the Tower" soundtrack does play at the end of the game.

Well, I was exhausted - but I finally did a commentary version of KQVI.

I sped up the original - which is over 5 hours long of gameplay, which reduced it to 4 hours. I sped it up AGAIN, and it was about an hour long.

I figured, if I sped it up any faster, it'd be virtually impossible to discuss everything - and even in this sped up version, there's parts I just let it do what I am doing, as I have no hope of explaining what I am doing, before it moves on to the next thing...!

I also figured out why the video(es) were so pixelated. Because it was done in 320x200 or whatever, and my intro piece is 1920x1080 - It was stretching the 320x200 to 1920x1080. I was an idiot and didn't adjust the size before importing it with the intro. I also tinkered around (since I am currently playing KQVII) - and think I have a fun way to keep the aspect ratio fairly close so it doesn't blur in future videos.

All of that said, if you have an hour and you're REALLY bored...

I can't understand anything that anyone says. They all sound like chipmunks.

One week later... the game gets stuck. (And yes, I watched the whole thing). :-P

The wedding music sounds hilarious when it's sped up like that.

 The genie decides to serve you 'cos you're super-nice. ;)

 That's why I minimized the volume to barely be heard! :D

Yeah - so random that it got stuck on the screen "One week later"... and literally just sat there... and sat there... and sat there!

Thank you for watching the whole thing though! You have some endurance!

So I finished King's Quest VII - and to my surprise, it's 6 hours of game play. There's very little "wandering" - as I happen to remember most of the KQVII puzzles.

I suppose, because I usually play these games over extended periods of time, I never realized that these later games were actually pretty long.

King's Quest VII finally finished uploading!

It's 6 hours of game play (no commentary). Probably going to do the same thing where I speed up the game play several times so that it's no more than an hour and comment on that, because I don't think anyone wants to hear me talk for six hours.

So here's the non commentary version...

Did a new intro (nothing super fancy) and did a new way of displaying the game (to try and keep the resolution as close as possible)...

Sped up massively, like KQVI, with comments...

And for what it's worth (which is pointless, as you can do multiple save games in KQVII, because you can not dead end)...

Aye. Though I've uninstalled it so now I don't know if it was ScummVM or DOSBox... But I am pretty sure DOSBox because it didn't have the tell-tale sign of the ScummVM "cursor" that I've now officially noticed on LSL1 from GoG... so I just uninstalled LSL1 to just grab my CD and do it through DOSBox.

Even made a post about it on the GoG forums (not that I expect it to go anywhere)...
