FTFY. ;) "Pixie-lated" is something very different... a fairy making up an excuse about why she's late for work? *G*

I do believe he was merely pointing out a joke.

I don't support the pointing out of typos, even in a joking manner. However, since you're asking this, and merely as a statement of fact, Collector's post did say "pixilated" instead of "pixelated".

Looks like it has a release date of November 7th: https://gematsu.com/2018/08/leisure-sui ... november-7
https://www.shacknews.com/article/10680 ... s-november
And it's 15% off on Steam at the moment:

(EDIT: Whoa! It does a preview of Steam links now?)

I guess I'm reviving this thread now, but... has anyone played it yet? How is it and how does it compare to the original games?

Also, can you save when and where you want? I've seen more and more adventure games going with save points or checkpoint saves (e.g. Siberia 3, Dreamfall: Chapters, Silence, the new King's Quest, any of the TellTale games, etc) and it's very annoying. At the very least, every game should have a "save and quit" function so you can stop when you want without having to make a decision between "keep playing until you hit a checkpoint" or lose progress.

As for the new LSL game and the "offended-by-everything" culture we have now, well... it's Leisure Suit Larry! The character is and always has been offensive and that's just part of the game. If that's not your thing, that's fine, but the solution is to ignore it. Hell, if people began protesting this game it'd likely get more sales than ever due to the publicity and that's likely the last thing anyone who'd be against a game like this would really want.

 Very true, DPX. I'm not sure how offensive LSL actually is - surely offense, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I knew that although Larry (the character, not the game) was crude and outdated, he often got what he deserved, so I wasn't offended by the LSL games. (To me, Larry was more of a Butt Monkey than anything else.) I'm sure there are people out there who are offended by LSL, and DPX, I agree with you - if you are, just ignore the game.

I haven't played it yet. I'm not offended by it, it's just ... I'm a little worried that it won't be like the Al Lowe version of the game. I'd rather not play it if it turns out to be another MCL or BOB. :(

Apparently they got the original voice actor to return....that's all I've heard. Other than Al Lowe being confirmed over and over again to not be involved.

As for LSL being offensive to society....that's really interesting, because when it first came out it was perceived (as far as I can tell from where I was sitting) as something that made fun of prudes and was trying to "progress" society by normalizing and liberating sexuality more than it was. It's really interesting now to see it having switched places entirely and become something certain people view as "regressive" instead and a danger to "progress". Same goes with Duke Nukem 3D.

I've not yet played it; hoping at some point it goes on sale (pretty cheap) as I tried to give LSL:MCL a try back in the day, and got burned for it (because it was a craptastic game).

Well, the reviews are in - here are a couple of positive ones:

A fairly short review from Destructoid.com

...and a longer one (ho ho) but more detailed, from Adventuregamers.com

From the sounds of these two reviews, WDDD is nowhere near as craptastic as MCL or BOB. Have a read and see what you think. :)

I also found one review that gave this game just one star, but as I started to read it, it became apparent that the website was aimed at parents, and warned them what games not to buy for their kids. Apparently some groups out there still think that video games are just for kids. Go figure.

Oh, and finally - just because I found this amusing - here's a DeviantArtist's version of LSL 30. (A little raunchy, but not too much). ;)

Enjoy!

The problem is that MCL and BOB set the bar SO EFFING LOW - that it'd be nearly impossible NOT to be better than those.

I am waiting for it to go on sale somewhere... for cheap... before I give it a swing. Burned too many times.

Hmm, I agree (unfortunately). I haven't played MCL, but I tried BOB (just because of the LSL name) - but shut it down and uninstalled it after something like 5 minutes.

I've played plenty of rubbish games over the years, but BOB probably comes somewhere near the bottom (no pun intended).

Impossible to be worse? Gee, I don't know ... QfG 4.5 set the bar really, REALLY low. They set it so low that not even a limbo dancer could get under it!
