On the fifth day of Christmas, my Larry gave to me...
"CUT! CLOSED SET!!!!!" :P
Sliding on a tongue,
This big whale's
driving me insane,

I'm sure sweaters would've been very welcome up north, but it was a bit warm for them in the southern hemisphere. Had the AC on during the day and we saved cooking the turkey until after sunset, once it was cooler outside. We ate so late, in fact, that the sun was rising while I was washing dishes. So it was more of a Boxing Day breakfast than Christmas dinner, but it certainly was memorable.

Hope everyone else had an enjoyable holiday as well :)

Sweaters? *faints and needs to be revived*

I had Christmas on my own. That's ok. But down here in Aussie-land, we're sweltering through an unseasonable heatwave - it's between 5 and 10 degrees C (25-50 F!) warmer than usual for this time of year.

My part of the country is 32-36 C (89-98 F). But just northwest of us, in Adelaide, they're 41-42 C (easily 100+ F), and some parts of the country are even higher. I think they've even recorded 50.5 C (nearly 123 F) in one part of the country.

I wish, I wish, I wish I was kidding. :? I can only remember one time when the Christmas season was this hot - back in 2003-04. How do I know? Because it was just before the start of the final year of my TAFE diploma. (For non-Aussies, a TAFE is like a technical college). ;)

Hope you're all having an enjoyable Christmas. As for me, I'm going to build an igloo and sleep until March. G'night! :D

My family lives in Maine, near the Canadian border. We're always wanting to do temperature swaps.

SHP, I thought you were in Sydney? I'm confused. :?

The heatwave has gone away, thank goodness. Yesterday was close to 34 C here (about mid-90s F), but it's now 24 C (just over 75 F). Just beautiful. Light winds. Yesterday was beach weather, and today is BBQ-in-the-park weather. :) Phew! I'm so relieved for the cool change. :D

I am currently, but I'm from the states. I moved to Oz four years ago to get married.

Oh, okay.

How does Sydney compare to Maine? Just curious. :) I moved up north to Sydney for a year or two because of work, and then moved back to Melbourne.

Sydney always struck me as far more intense than Melbourne. I didn't mind it at first, but the intensity gradually made it hard to sleep at nights. So I moved somewhere a tiny bit quieter.

Haha. I come from a small town of about 6,000 people, so that's kind of an apples/oranges question. There's really no comparison. I grew up used to cold and quiet, and now I'm surrounded by heat and noise. Even in the 'burbs its busier than I was ever accustomed to.

I don't go into the city that often. I'm not really a city person and I tire of the chaos really fast. I would have no qualms finding someplace quieter eventually.

Around here "SHP" is an acronym for this site.

Should I change my username to prevent any confusion?

Not at all, in my opinion! :)

You picked that user name for a reason! I think it's funny that the abbreviation happens to be the same as the forum's!
