The Murder Mystery was a complete success - and of all the DM sessions I've done, ranks at the top - if not THE top one!

Twirpo did Detect Magic again and found a glow in Galen Silverglade’s pants...
Unintentional double entendre? Or maybe just a single entendre. ;)

That night - because of the overall theme of the house - and several of the players, staying in character - were like, "We've been on a caravan for WEEKS..." Then in the house, the employees outfits (leather cod pieces), the halfling making out with an Elf NPC, "glory holes" (that were NOT glory holes), etc etc) - the sexual tension that night was very high.

EDIT: I forgot to mention - the map that night for Marcus Maplestone's mansion was based on all the rooms of CLUE (the game; including the Deluxe version which included more rooms). So when I first laid out the map, the mansion was face down (so the square map was face down on the table) - so while the party was going around the city, they had no idea. Once they got inside the mansion, I said, "Okay, everyone flip over the map." Everyone was excited about THAT - then they all recognized the ROOM names! It was so great!

So that night - after the game, I told them I wanted to take a picture with all of them because I had such a great night - and Melinda (who played the halfling who made out with the Elf) - and also a MASSIVE CLUE movie fan like myself did this:

I on the other hand, when I sent the synopsis had done this:

LOL! Nicely done, Tawmis. :)

I don't know if there are dice rolls for making out. :P Probably not. But anything can be a euphemism. ;)

There's literally a 5e skill called "Performance." That's what I made her roll.

Oh, yes - I know of the "Performance" skill. Only I thought it was for other types of performance - the kind bards excel at. ;)

The D&D-wiki mentions storytelling, music, dancing, and acting. I'd add juggling and acrobatics. ;)

Well, it just so happens, she's a halfling bard. :o

Acrobatics has it's own skill (which relies on DEXTERITY). Performance is things based on CHARISMA, specifically. And I figure, making out with someone requires some charisma. :)
(Especially when you're doing it because they're attractive... but also because you're trying to steal two library books!)

 Freaking Collector threw me off. I kept seeing that this thread had a new message, but I couldn't find it under Misc Chatter.

Apparently he moved it to Community Games!

Though I am not sure why - it is about a game, but I always thought Community Games is like forum games (like maybe the "Design a Sierra Game" thread belongs in here!)

As for the D&D and the books...

It was so good... she described what she was doing (is the room getting hot in here?) and how she wanted to try and steal the books!

The person she was making out with, wasn't the owner of the mansion (that was Marcus Maplestone) - who she made out with was Thyr Moonglade (a high elf, painter - which was the connection, because she'd met him in town looking to resupply her own painting materials, since one of her Bard things was being a painter). Thyr was talking to her about how he believed Marcus was smuggling (aka stealing/illegally acquiring) ancient texts that belonged in museums and the such). While in there, several books (of ancient type tomes) caught her eye - so not being sure if Thyr would turn on her if she tried to snake them; she opted to make out with the NPC, who she was already attracted to), as a form of distraction while she pulled a sleight of hand to steal a few volumes.

 Oh? *raises eyebrow* If the room was getting hot, let me just open a window or turn on a fan. On second thought, better not turn on a fan - I might blow aware the PC sheets etc.

On second second thought, maybe I'd better not use the words "turn on" or "fan" in this connection with this discussion ... ;)

Too bad about the ancient tomes. I can just imagine Oghren trying to do what the PC did.

*Oghren walks in* Books, books and ... hello! More books. That's what you want Oghren to waggle his beard for? Dusty tomes of paper? Ugh, where's Oghren's special brew? ;)

The Work D&D Game was a success! I had it interweave with another party's adventure - and used a Green Hag, which successfully tricked the party into attack Centaurs (illusion'ed due to the Green Hag) to look like demons! Before the party realized they'd been tricked - and all the answers were always in front of them! (They were told, "Beware of the one with the white hair!") - but it was actually "hare" - and when they met her, I specifically mentioned - repeatedly, she was petting a white rabbit. Which I was referencing the old, D&D Cartoon episode "The Night of No Tomorrow" where the young heroes are told: You will know [Venger’s] newest face by his white hare.

And last night's group (Anita's Group) was also a success! Some follow up things from the previous "Clue" D&D Themed adventure... where the elf that our beloved Halfling Bard seduced, comes back looking for her... and has a ... mission for her and her friends... to find his wife.
The notes for that are here!

So I forgot to mention the latest game session with Anita's group...
So, Jessica (who plays Phalen, the cleric) and her husband, Brad (who plays Alaric, the fighter) were not able to make the game, due to Jessica's grandfather passing away. :(

So because Jessica (aside from Anita) is probably the MOST into the game; I didn't want to move the main story forward (in which the party leaves Ridgecrest, the main town that they're in), to continue escorting the caravan that's headed in the same direction they are anyway... So I made a side quest. In the previous adventure, there had been a random encounter with an Ettin, which the party avoided...

So for my side quest, I decided to focus on that. Why was this Ettin strolling so close to a major, fortified city?
He's there to get food, I decide. He's stealing live stock. And the city needs someone to put an end to the Ettin, because the city relies on these farmers for wood, food, etc.
But let's raise the stakes. He's also kidnapping people.
So why?
He's mind controlled.
But by who? What?
Ettin's live in caves.
What if Mind Flayers dug upward and enslaved him? So that he fetches food for Mind Flayers and slaves?
Yes!
Let's do that...

I am also considering that the party is sent to recover some relics... that may be familiar...

I'm so sorry to hear about Jessica's grandfather passing away. :(

Ettin is enslaved by Mind Flayers! Good idea. :)

Attacking four Mind Flayers when the party is (IIRC) an average of level 5-6? Not a good idea. :P

As for the illustration - is that your take on the D&D show from the 80s? Looks good, if so. :)
