Steam and GOG sales

I tried downloading Dragon Age from GOG, but had no luck. Every 100 Mb or so, the download was interrupted and Galaxy told me that it was having a "Server Problem" (and no explanation). I kept trying and trying, but only managed to download 1 Gb out of about 23 Gb ...

Anyway, GOG were nice enough to help me, and when I couldn't make it work, they gave me a refund. I wonder what happened, since this is the only game this ever happened to. Perhaps I should stay away from large games?

Did you try downloading without using the GOG Galaxy thing? And just go to the game on your account and download the files?

Good call. I got the free Wasteland 2 but wasn't aware it also had the Wasteland 1 key.

I've never played any Wasteland games... but I won't pass up free.

I am wondering about these two games, all currently on sale at GOG:

We. The Revolution

Vampire the Masquerade: Coteries of New York

As for the first one: I've read deeply about the French Revolution, but the Great Terror is a mystery to me. All I know is that it was a very sad time. The game itself looks good - as a judge during that time, you have to fight to keep France together, to avoid having the aristocrats and revolutionaries from killing each other, to keep your family together, etc. etc. There are many choices that are not black-and-white, but gray-and-gray morality, which is excellent.

I've considered the other one purely because I've read a V:tM book a long, long time ago (never actually tried role-playing it). I liked the ideas and the gray-and-gray morality, but it sounded very complicated. So hopefully the computer game is simpler.

What are your thoughts?

I think Rath means Vampire: The Masquerade the Pen & Paper game (for which the computer game is based off of).

I've also not played the Pen & Paper version of it (or Werewolf).

Yeah, that's why he mentioned D&D (which I hope, you know is a pen & paper game).

There's a lot of games based on D&D (Neverwinter Nights, Balder's Gate, Icewind Dale, and so on and so on).

That's right! V:tM, like D&D, started out as a pen-and-paper game. In the 90s and beyond, a lot of games were based on D&D. (Tawm, don't forget the "Eye of the Beholder" series! It started in the early 90s - 1991, IIRC).

Is "Druidstone" an RPG, by the way? From what I gather in the GOG reviews, it's a turn-based puzzle-solving game, with RPG elements. But there are no classes or dialogue, and no advancing levels etc... at least, that's what the reviews say. Is that true? *shrug*

That's right! V:tM, like D&D, started out as a pen-and-paper game. In the 90s and beyond, a lot of games were based on D&D. (Tawm, don't forget the "Eye of the Beholder" series! It started in the early 90s - 1991, IIRC).

There's a mess of SSI games (such as Eye of Beholder) like Pool of Radiance among MANY others, back then.

Turn based solving is a better way of putting it. It does have RPG elements and cool story/cut scenes between - but each "area" has an encounter that has a certain criteria to meet.

So for example, first encounter, "Defeat all the enemies." (Teaching you the mechanics of the game)
Second one might be, "Defeat all the enemies" (but now there's trap stones you need to open to get to enemies)
Third one might be, "Defeat all the enemies in six rounds."
Forth one might be, "Safely escort Bob to the other side to escape; defeat all enemies who appear."

The thing is - in each of these - there's a "corruption" that summons monsters. So the longer you take, the harder it gets.
