(Disney +) The Mandalorian (Potential Spoilers)

Post by Tawmis »

I may be the only person on here who got Disney+ - but in the event I wasn't - thoughts on the Star Wars series The Mandalorian?

Sorry, Tawm ... I don't have Disney Plus. It's not even available here in (M)Ozzie-land. :(

(I know I can't offer any thoughts - I just didn't want to see you to think nobody cared).

Saw it last night! Very great! Oh it's so nice to be able to look forward to something Star Wars (and NEW Star Wars at that). The world building was great and reminded me of ANH. The music especially grabbed me. It's a very different style for Star Wars but yet still somehow fitting. I like that the Mandalorian is not depicted as a TOTAL bad@$$ and has some humanity to him and vulnerability. But not too much to undermine his abilities. It's also funny but not over the top or in an unfitting way (no yo momma jokes). At the end of every episode they have these really beautiful art piece paintings (concept art?) of various scenes from that episode that I now look forward to. All in all this is Star Wars through and through. It's also got a bit of a western feel to it. Very good indeed. The set pieces and the practical effects (yes, practical effects!) are stunning and even the CGI is quality and used semi-sparingly and in good taste only for the parts that need it. It doesn't surprise me at all that Dave Filoni (The Clone Wars and Rebels) is behind this with Jon Favreau. Anything that guy touches and works on in Star Wars is gold. I also really like the plot so far and I'm super curious about what's going to happen. All in all I'm invested. Definitely feel safer about looking forward to the new Kenobi show now (even though it's not Favreau and Filoni).

My only problem with it so far is that the episodes are only ~30 minutes long! Needs to be longer! Hopefully by second season they'll get more budget to do longer episodes. I can't see this show not doing well.

Heh - So on that... I thought it was interesting (Spoiler Code Ahead!)...

So we see him go in the bar and man handle the dudes for the bounty... pulling off some great moves... we see him with IG-11 (hated they put him down!) and he's doing great... that dialogue between them is so great... but then we see him get man handled - BADLY - by the Blurrg - the two legged Dew-Back like creatures... and not once, but twice, in the same "fight")... and speaking of the Blurrg - the Ugnaught said they were needed - but were they? I mean, yeah there was some deep crevices to jump... but they could have made it without the Blurrg ...)

Hehe yeah. And good points. I also was hoping IG-11 would stick around. The back and forth was great.

Latest episode was a nice step up from the last two which I thought were on the weaker side. Also, Bill Burr! And he did a great job, too.

That Twi'lek woman though (Xi'an) - I could have done without. She seemed to overact.... everything.

I think she confused herself for being in "Interview with a Vampire."

Did a podcast about the show...

Maico Moreno returns to The Comic Relief Podcast – as we discuss The Mandalorian on Disney+. Maico also opens up as to why he’d been absent and his health that kept him from being a part of the podcast for all the episodes over the last two years.

It felt great to have Maico back on the podcast and feeling that chemistry once again between he and I. (And I mean that in a heterosexual way, I swear!) Amiee will continue to also be a co-host also, with it being myself, Amiee and Maico, or just myself and Amiee, or myself and Maico! The podcast that’s all about threesomes! Wait – that’s not what I meant!

Listen – why don’t we just get to it?
