LSL Music Question ...

... so this morning I drove to do some errands. I put on the classical radio station and listened to the Vivaldi Concerto for Guitar in D Minor. (Originally it was for lute, of course, since there were no guitars in Vivaldi's time).

Then the 3rd movement came on, and I half-froze in recognition. I'm pretty certain Al Lowe used it somewhere in the LSL games, but I cannot remember where. Does anyone have any ideas?

So I watched it; and that music sounds entirely too complicated and very un-Larry like. So if it's used somewhere, I am not sure where.

It sounds like if it was used; it'd be some kind of resort music (don't recognize it from LSL3, so maybe LSL6? LSL7?)

Hmm ... I don't think it's from LSL6 (I just replayed it, and the sound is completely different). LSL7 has a jazzy sound, so I don't think that's it either - but, for the life of me, I swear I'd heard it before. *thinks, plays another game while he thinks*

Wait a minute! I think I know where it's from. It's the Theme of the Napoleon House in Gabriel Knight 1. Here, have a listen.

Speaking of music from Larry, Al Lowe hosts on his website some pretty awesome fan-created Larry music. Some of the ones I liked best are:

1. Larry Theme, orchestrated by Jan Zottmann, and featuring Al himself on sax.

(Yes, I said "sax", not ...)

2. Larry's Funky House of Lowe, created by Larry Oji and Mattias Häggström Gerdt, and which they used to surprise Al at Genericon 2008. Very catchy.

3. Patti's Theme by Andy Thorley, which Al calls one of his favourite fan arrangements.

Just listened to the Vivaldi theme and it does sound familiar... I could go do some digging after I'm done with my current project.

In LSL 3 to 6 variations to classical music were used - notably Bolero but also some others that I can't recall at gunpoint. There's also a Bach piece used in LSL7 at the cookoff.

I think I answered my own question there (i.e. the Vivaldi theme is used in the first Gabriel Knight game, at the Napoleon cafe).

Yes, I remember the Bach piece in the LSL7 cookoff. I remember thinking "That sounds familiar" - probably because it was familiar, although I can't remember which BWV it is.

Bolero? Where, in LSL3-to-6, is Bolero? I can't recall it anywhere - do you mean the Bolero by Maurice Ravel?

LSL3 and LSL6 use Bolero variants - LSL6 upon dying and LSL3 in the naughty bits.
