I finished almost a week ago the first EcoQuest and now I'm in the midst of the second one. I've wrote a review for Search for Cetus that will eventually go up on Adventure Gamers, but I want to tell you right away that I loved the game

The second one, though, has started off in a more simplistic manner (a clear bad guy, a less "apocalyptic" set), but I found nonetheless very pleasing.

Why shouldn't they be "real adventures"? Are educational adventure games "not real adventures"?
And, by the way, I just can't understand why does the phrase "young adult" seem to actually mean not even adult teenagers... For me it would seem that "young adult" should mean people in the approximately 18-25 age group, but no, this phrase seems to be actually used to refer to people no older than 16 years old...

I liked the games very much and always regretted that the series only had two parts. The only advantage to that is that "Ecoquest" at least never turned into ugly 3D...

So because when you turn 18 you are typically (in the US) considered "an adult." You can now vote, get drafted, join the military (and yet, can't drink in most states, but whatever).

So what? Being younger than adult doesn't make you a "young adult", it makes you a subadult.

In Europe it's 18, but I really don't care about it. If alcohol disappeared from the stores, I probably wouldn't even notice it. The one thing I want is that people stopped assuming that I must have a boring life because I hate alcohol and never drink it.
As I sometimes say, I don't even know how much do alcohol, meat and petrol cost. I don't need them.

I think because when you hear things like Harry Potter was written for the Young Adult crowd, or considered a young adult book - you think people between 15 to 18 are the primary target (I am assuming).

Because that's what I think.

When I hear about a "young adult series" of books, I am not thinking 18 to 20.

That's it. Although, in my understanding I'd move it a bit further, to the end of typical study age - around 25 years old. People have much time to be "older than young adult", after all, elderly people are obviously adults too and not some separate category...

I really can't send a reponse to Tawmis. I don't know why, don't know what causes the error. Anyway, what I wanted to write is that Polish and German (and probably many other languages) have a separate term for, literally, "youth literature". It makes MUCH MORE SENSE than calling it "young adult".

My nice-looking post has been spoiled.

Were you using any characters with diacritics or other extended characters?
