King's Quest VI AGI

Post by MusicallyInspired »

Look what just popped up again out of nowhere.
This guy was working on it 8 years ago and had some gameplay videos of his progress on YouTube but lost his source code. He recently found it again and has been working on finishing it and plans on releasing it to the public!

It would be wonderful if it had the entirety of Brayman's soundtrack in Tandy sound.

True. And I've thrown around the idea of asking him if he'd mind my helping in that area. But in a way it kind of has that special AGI charm the way he does it. It can work both ways.

I'd play the heck out of this. However, I think there needs to be... less "coloring" once the game starts. Like the beach looks... busy...? I don't know. And the bookstore too. Like the back shading just seems to be randomly colored. So toning that down a little (these look like straight dithering down to 16 color with it trying to match as close as it can, rather than redrawing the beach scene, book store, etc).

But regardless, it's better than anything I could ever hope to do. And as I said, I'd play the heck out of this.

Yeah. I think his original videos featured backgrounds that weren't so busy and were more simple. Not sure why he went that route.

Simplicity is part of the charm of AGI.
