Security software question ...

Post by Rath Darkblade »

... so on my personal PC, I use Avast Antivirus for all my anti-virus needs, and Malwarebytes for everything else. ;) However, I recently found that Malwarebytes wants to update to its new version -- and unfortunately, the installation fails without giving a reason. :(

So, I figured I'd uninstall it and try something different.

What software would you recommend? I came across Webroot SecureAnywhere, which has had a good review in PC Magazine (although that review is about 2 years old now - but oh well).

What do you think? :)

I use eSET for everything.
But it has an annual cost.

I use McAfee in conjunction with Malwarebytes, though I am not sure how to independently test anti-virus software without deliberately infecting my computer and seeing if it removes is. Both have annual fees. I do like that McAfee has a file shredder feature.

It's odd that Malwarebytes is giving an error like that. I updated to 4.2.0 pretty recently without any problems.

Hmph. :( I uninstalled Malwarebytes now ... I'll try to download and install it again, just to see what happens.

I currently have Avast anti-virus and anti-malware running too. Maybe they interfere with each other?
