Leisure Suit Larry VI - Commentary / Playthrough.

Post by Tawmis »

Finished playing Leisure Suit Larry VI for my Let's Play Sierra Games channel... It was great not remembering some of the stuff in the game! Took me 6.5 hours to finish in total! It's currently rendering just the play through.

This was miles and miles and miles above Leisure Suit Larry V.

Can't see it on your channel, though ... ;) I looked in the LSL section, but nothing there.

You may not have had time to put it up, though. I understand. :)

Yeah. Wasn't up yet. Was still rendering the video. 6.5 hours of video is a long time to render. :)

I am going to speed it up when I do the commentary, so it will only be about 1.5 hours for that version.

The long arse 6.5 version is now up, however... and you can watch in utter boredom as I wander and try to remember where some rooms are... :D

Yeah it was done over several days, obviously. There was almost a month gap between some of the playing.

Reduced down 27.5 minutes. :D

Oh dear... I'd forgotten the TV hostess's name was Shalo ("Shallow"). I thought it was pronounced "SHAY-lo" (to rhyme with J Lo). :P But then, I only watched the intro once, and that was a long time ago.

Sigh. The host's name is Biff Stiff, the other dude's name is Rock Hard ... euphemism much? ;) And the women's names are Sharla Mane (Charlemagne), Sharla O'Hara (?) and Sharla Tann (charlatan). Not really double-entendres as much as single entenders. ;)

Gee -- an all-expenses paid cruise. Didn't you win this in LSL2?

Yep, there goes Al Lowe on his skateboard. ;)

Dr Swineheart, Dr Swinebutt ... what's the difference? (Dr Swinebutt seems more appropriate, somehow, given the business he's in).

I just thought of something -- where is Char's towel when she is in the mud bath? We never see it.

When will Larry learn? (Probably never).

 at Larry walking around and doing things at lightning speed. It's The Invisible Man!

The "food tray thing" is a dumbwaiter. :) The dumbwaiter system is what people in the old days (e.g. 1920s) used to send up food to rich people in penthouses. They'd cook the food in the kitchen, put it in the dumbwaiter, and send it up. The people in the penthouses will eat the food and send down the dirty dishes, which the people in the kitchen would wash. This was part of the rent. :) Take a look at, for instance, this Hercule Poirot short story: The Adventure of the Italian Nobleman.

Burgundy is a country singer. ;)

OH! Billy Dee Williams -- so THAT'S who Billy Dee is based on. *blush* I didn't make the connection. Thanks, Tawm. ;)

Heh ... Thunderbird (obviously not her real name). Larry wants to call her T-Bird. Ford Thunderbird ;)

Oh dear -- painful S&M jokes. I doubt they could be as bad as what Larry goes through, though (with Thunderbird's whip). I bet he wishes he had that diamond earlier -- then (in another puzzle that was cut from the game), he could grab the whip and saw through it with the diamond. Huzzah! Larry's FREE!!! :D :P

Larry rushes around again, talks to people and does things -- and you can't see him rush, talk and do. Ack! It's SUPER-LARRY!

You have to give the gifts to Shannara (sp?) in the proper sequence? :| I just finished (re)playing LSL6 myself, and I could give her the gifts in any order. Did I miss something?

Thanks, Tawm! That was fun. :)

Yeah, I assume it's pronounced "Shallow." :)

The announcer for "Dating Connection" (just replayed LSL2 a bit to see) is also named Biff - but different "last name."

Just thought it was weird that Gammie calls him "Swinebutt" - and if you look at the machine, it mentions "Swinebutt" - but every time Larry references him it's "Swineheart."

With the mud on her body, she didn't need it. It was all the cover she needed. Wash off in the shower, get the towel from the locker. :)

That's what it is!

Making reference to when Larry calls her a blues singer... and she replies...

No, there's just some gifts she won't accept that you may have left over in your inventory. :)

Thanks for watching it! :)

Hmm -- now I'm wondering. Burgundy always reminds me of Dolly Parton; did you get the same impression? The music, the outfit -- all right, she doesn't have Dolly's huge hair, but other than that ... ;)

I assumed Reba McEntire - and this specifically.

Oh, OK. That makes a lot more sense. (You can see how much I know about country music). @ self

Thanks, Tawm :)
