LSL Wet Dreams Don't Dry 2... Drier?
The folks who made the previous LSL game, have come back with another.
I've not played the one they made, so I can't speak for it.
But in the event you're interested.

I guess the first one did well, I haven't played it either. But they definitely need someone else to write their titles. The first one works, but this one doesn't make any sense.

Yyyyyyeah ... I agree, MI. The people who made these games need help with their titles.
Yes, I saw this game being advertised by GOG. I haven't played the first one, so ... meh.
Then again: the original LSL was always suggestive, rather than pornographic. So I hope these 'adventures' of Larry are the same - i.e. simply suggestive, not pornographic or kinky. It's the difference between using a feather and using a chicken.
I also hope it's not stupid, like the adventures of the forgettable Larry Lovage.

Re: LSL Wet Dreams Don't Dry 2... Drier?
I played both of the new games, didn't fully finish the second one yet. Here's a rating by someone who got to know Larry Laffer through LSL6 Hires/Talky and LSL7, and has played through LSL1 (Original, VGA, Reloaded) and LSL5.
Warning, there may be some spoilers.
- It plays in something like an "alternate timeline" in the current time 2017/2020, but with the original games indeed having happened in-universe at their actual release date though.
- It should be noted that the developers identify Larry as the ego seen in LSL1-3, and dislike his appearance in later titles, designing him more "human"-like because of this. You get used to it while playing through it if you prefer the later appearances (like me) though. It still has Jan Rabson speaking, which makes this "transition" easier.
- There are many loveable homages and references to the original games. The beginning of WDDD caused some tear in my eyes as it was beautiful due to this, the rest of WDDD wasn't as exciting though, and the end was extremely rushed.
- WDDT has another scene with a taking reference which even accounts for anything that could've happened in LSL8.
- No narrator, no Neil Ross ($$$), but a kinda annoying PiPhone talking to Larry and assisting you at times. It gets useful in part 2; in part 1 it's mostly annoying, but drives the story.
- While it felt more like only Larry (and the women he met) were kinda perverted in the original games, here the whole scenes have sexual references, cock drawings, and vagina logos everywhere. Felt really forced. Had to learn to ignore it to enjoy the otherwise great graphics (animations are lacking though and by far not as diverse as in LSL7).
To sum it up by game:
- WDDD: Starts off great, has some cool ideas and many nice homages and revisits of old locations, but the adventuring itself feels illogical. Humor is average... kinda falls over some jokes making more sense in German only (the devs are from Germany).
- WDDT: Starts off bad (rescuing itself from the crappy end of WDDD) but gets a _lot_ better quickly. Some homages here and there. Adventuring makes more sense but is still relatively one-dimensional / straight forward (very easy for hardcore adventurers). Humor got better, maybe loveable, but not loWeable, if you know what I mean.
Should you buy it? Depends if you wanna spend money on it or not. Currently, the second part is available for 25% off, not sure for how long.
I'm not sure if I can recommend one game over the other. If you'd only wanna buy one, buy the second, it plays better in total so far.
And yeah, about the titles, the first one may just be a blunt play on "Dreams Don't Die". The second is a kinda illogical play on "James Bond - You Only Live Twice" due to the "agent-ish" story.

Haha, yeah, I'd rate these games as remixes of the original. They're not necessarily bad, share the same core, but effectively feel different.
They're by far not as bad as MCL or any of that shit.

Re: LSL Wet Dreams Don't Dry 2... Drier?
So, I started playing LSL: WDDD (as it's on sale for $10). So far it's quite good.
I disagree with Ray Koopa -- I thought the "PiPhone" was very funny. On the other hand, all the drawings of penises and vaginas were very distracting. I'm just ignoring them. (Even Jan Robsom as Larry comments on them).
Some good ideas, and I like being able to revisit Lost Wages in "present day 2018", but yes -- some of the puzzles are kind of illogical.
Currently, the first part LSL: Wet Dreams game is on sale for $10. I was curious, so I picked it up. I'm sure the second one will go on sale again soon.

Re: LSL Wet Dreams Don't Dry 2... Drier?
Literally why I never bothered picking up the game. I am by no means bothered by penis drawings (as a matter of fact, last night - we did a "virtual happy hour" using the Jackbox bundle with co-workers, and one of the people in one of the games put "Tawm's Big Horse Dick" as an answer - so when we played the next game called "Champ'ed Up" (or something) - almost everyone drew penises - and it was hilarious).Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 3:45 am On the other hand, all the drawings of penises and vaginas were very distracting.
However, to me, Leisure Suit Larry wasn't about the obvious-in-your-face-humor. It was far more subtle, and far more about shaming Larry then it was about "Oh! Look! Penis!" (Or "Oh! Look! Vagina!")
The only time I can even think between LSL1, LSL2, LSL3, LSL5, LSL6 and LSL7 where there's a "penis" (or Vagina, for that matter) - is in LSL3, when Larry shapes the wooden thing to give to the girl on the beach.
Granted in LSL7, there were ways to see breasts (moving a leaf, for example; but the rest was pretty much needed to be done in a specific way to see Victoria and the musical Twins).
So when I saw the cover was this "Larry" in front of The Little Mermaid penis temples x infinity, I just decided to pass on it.

Re: LSL Wet Dreams Don't Dry 2... Drier?
Hmm. *shrug* I just ignore the whole shemozzle. I agree with you, Tawm -- it's definitely not necessary, in a Larry game, to make the whole thing so explicit. Some games are; Larry isn't.
Besides, it's far too easy to make dick jokes. One of the characters is called Dick Ryder, for heaven's sake. And the big joke is ... he turns out to be gay. Oh, how funny. (He's a nice guy, though). And he ends up marrying a man called Mr Straightman, who is also gay (though in denial). Ha ha, ho ho, how hilarious. The game redeems itself a little because Larry has to arrange the whole thing, and it's quite touching. But ... meh. *shrug*

If it's ever like $2 on GoG, I may pick it up. I won't pay more than that.

Re: LSL Wet Dreams Don't Dry 2... Drier?
Hmm. So I tried playing the second game in the "series", since it was on special. It is ... ahem ... marginally better. The characterisation and plot are stronger. And the ending is much, much better.
Unfortunately, this game still sticks to the first game's ... addiction, I guess? ... of being as subtle as a war-hammer. Plus, there are some bits (e.g. mazes etc.) that are not very fun.
Overall, though, I'd say #2 is better than #1 ... but not by much. If I had to give them a rating, then ...
LSL (WDDD1): 2 stars out of 5
LSL (WDDD2): 3 stars out of 5
