Last night's D&D session I ran was fun.
They're in a town called Redstone (named after the mountain it is built against; where giant red stones poke out of it - story is an angel fell during combat in some ancient war in the heavens - and the red stones are the blood of said angel).
In the town there's an Inn called "Nightshade."
Seems normal.
The Inn is run by a human named Bradbury.

See where this is going yet?

A circus/carnival arrives in the middle of the night - and mysterious flies are handed out.

A dark story follows this carnival, according to Innkeeper Bradbury.

"Something Wicked This Way Comes"? By Ray Bradbury? ;) I'd never read it, just googled "bradbury nightshade circus" and saw what came up. :)

Um, I think you mean flyers. You can't hand out flies (unless they're very, very dead!) ;)

Disney released a fantastic movie version of the book. REALLY recommend the movie. It's from the 80s - but fantastic.

Indeed!

Also - from Ben's game (from July 10th's game, I ran - so it's not the Circus Game, which was last night...)

Session 12 notes! The battle of "Players vs Dice" and the Spirit Hag!

Yesterday, after talking about Something Wicked This Way Comes, I got to looking for my book (which isn't in my office - which may be in one of the bins in the garage that I stored my extra books in... or it may be the one I had was donated when I left Tennessee many moons ago - got rid of a lot of books when I moved). But I ended up finding the cover of the version I had online.

Yep, that's the one. :) Wow, that's an old cover. Is it the original?

No this was the 70s cover I believe. I picked up the book right after I saw the movie.

Not sure if you have NERDS candy out there, Rath...

But NERDS Candy & D&D are pairing up.

Uh, yes - we have "Nerds" candy here. But I haven't thought of them for years.

 @ the images

That rogue image -- is that a Mimic? ;)

The last image (with everyone) - what are those classes? I'm a little confused.

- Green = Bard
- Purple = Rogue? But why is he flying?
- Yellow = Unclear.
- Purple = Wizard
- Orange = Fighter?
- Red = Unclear. Someone with a backpack? Or -- *shrug* -- a turtle?

Confirmed -
Pink = Rogue
Purple = Wizard

My guesses:
Make Colors Visible Because I'm Fancy wrote: Yellow = Cleric (Holy Symbol + Mace, give away)
Orange = Warrior (Shield + Helm, give away)
Green = Bard (guitar/string instrument, give away - plus fancy hat, King Graham would be proud!)
Red = Ranger (Bow + Arrow + Leafy Cape, give away)

OK. So -- why is the rogue flying? ;) Is he jumping over everyone's heads or something?

I assume jumping based on feet. :D

Last night's D&D game I DM for (the "Off Week" game) was an absolute blast.

The entire session was essentially a dating game. Zero combat. All skill checks. I controlled some NPC reactions; and some I'd randomly assign one of the players to respond as the NPC.

I can't believe how fun it was... If I heard someone say, "My D&D session was a dating game show, pretty much."

I would have rolled my eyes.

But the Off Week Game is 95% RP - and it was amazing.

Glad to hear you had such a good time! :) Yes, I remember one member of the party was dating a florist. ;)

What did the others do?

Hah - fair point. That's the normal week game.

There are three games I DM...

So I have "Work Game" (every other Tuesday, has 6 players).
I have "Off Week Game" (which is the opposite Tuesday, has 3 or 4 players from the work game, new characters, different area).
Then I have "Ben's Game" which is monthly.

The dating game was for Off Week.

Session 5 of that Game, Galiena (Jessica) had come down in a new dress and wow'ed the pub.
http://tawmis.com/kneurth/adventure-not ... -wizard-05

So last night's session, one of the players (Buppido, played by Aaron) was the "Show Runner" (announced names) as well as was some of the NPCs I assigned to him.
Aros (played by Mike) was also some of the NPCs (as well as doing some Rogue stuff).

What was fun, is since Galiena was asking questions like, "Where would we go on a date?"

I would answer; or randomly assign Mike or Aaron to answer on behalf of which ever NPC. This made it so some of the answers were genuinely surprised...
Because I am really good at coming up with answers for stuff like that... so I wanted the other players to also be in there.

There was 18 NPCs trying to win a date with her.

Got narrowed down to 7.

Then down to 3.

So she has 3 dates lined up. :D

 18 NPCs trying to win a date. Narrowing it down to 7, then 3. No wonder someone compared this to a dating game show. ;)

Three dates lined up? OK. Hopefully not all at the same time. (I also hope the three of them aren't backbiting at each other -- that's more the sort of thing they do on reality shows, like "Big Brother").
