Police Quest 1 (EGA) Wallpaper

Post by Tawmis »

Took the first two screens; and made them one; copied the gun shot and added a few more.

Side note - I never realized the gunshots (where they land) is random. It was different each time I loaded the game.

I couldn't tell you how many times I've played this. Yep. The bullet holes are random.

I never caught that - but had to run the game back to back twice to grab those two screen shots and noticed the holes were different locations!

Kind of a cool little thing! It wasn't just programed to always show the same shots.

Am I the only one who liked the EGA version better than the VGA one? I think it had a charm that the VGA one didn't.

I think my problem with the EGA (which we were discussing in the "Blue Force Wallpaper" thread, is driving in the car in EGA is insanely unforgiving... I remember saving literally every 30 seconds....)

I liked the EGA version better, but might be my nostalgia talking.

I enjoyed the EGA version; but the stupid controls of this tiny line and how easy it was to crash if you turned "right" too soon... made it painful.

PQ1AGI is my favourite driving style actually. Because it's so freeing and let's you go absolutely wherever you want to go. It felt like a really early GTA or something. :D I enjoyed obeying the traffic laws all on my own and getting punished when I ignored them (sometimes on purpose).

That's what NBS said, about the EGA driving. I found it to be a headache. lol

Hmm. I noticed that driving in PQ1 EGA is easier if you use the keypad, rather than the up/down/left/right keys. *nod* It's also easier if you turn the speed down.

Back in the day on my Tandy 1000, I played it with a TRS-80 joystick and got to be pretty good at driving with it. After many, many years it finally failed and I had to get used to the cursor keys.

I love that joystick. I have 3 of them for my Coco3.
