Space Quest V Play Through.

In Space No One Can Hear You Clean, er, Scream. But if you post in this forum about Space Quest - someone's sure to hear you. I think. Try it, anyway!

Um, OK. So it's all right to show the young tykes a female terminator with a kind of "Madonna cone-bra" (sort of), but it's not OK to show the phrase "Kiz Urazgubi"? *shrug*

They'll come across it in the manual anyway, I'm sure. (They'll read the manual to find those codes). Or am I being optimistic? ;)

There's something that feels off about SQV, to me. And I am not sure if it's Scott missing. But ... Roger seems way more confident, he's barking orders, etc. He doesn't feel like the bubbling Roger, who just happen to do the right things.
Also the thing in Fem-Terminator... to get the cloaking device... I got it open, but honestly, it was just random clicking.... I have ZERO idea how that thing logically opens.

And now I am a fly and it's f#$king annoying. And that's putting it lightly. Because Roger zooms around when you tell him where to go, navigation is utterly f#$ing irksome. Piss poor $#!+ design if I ever saw it.

Maybe because I am older... but this is not fun, this part. At all.

And that is putting it lightly.

Very, very lightly.

I had to look where to click - and it was a hair off from where I was feverishly clicking.

That's absolutely #$%^ing ridiculous.

You could clearly tell where I was clicking, where I was trying to go. But it wasn't this small little green spot.

So. Stupid.

I can't wait to do commentary on this game... may be the first time for my channel I use CENSOR beeps. :x

Finished it. Only parts I needed to "cheat" was where to click when Roger is in his... form... on a specific dome... and the maze in the Goliath.

As soon as I saw the maze, I was already frustrated with the game, said, "Eff you. Maze isn't really a part of adventure games - gimme the answers to the maze."

So I looked up the ways to go in the maze so I didn't spend 12 hours mapping it. :D

You mean like this? (From my self-made collection of curated game codes and hints back from the old DOS days...)

And did you get to see the Pac Man Easter Egg while in the maze?

[ I X'd out the Copy Protection Codes for this upload ]

No, the one I dug up was one that was literally like:

North
West
West
South
North

etc etc. :D

And no, I didn't get a Pac Man easter egg! :(

I got it the first time I played through when SQ5 first came out (when I was mapping every possible path), but I don't recall ever getting it again. I always thought it was a RNG thing, but not so, according to this post from SpaceQuest.net:

https://www.spacequest.net/sq5/eastereggs/

(I assume they mean the initial map that Roger enters, which is Map 8A on my diagram; the only other tunnel system on Level 8 is Map 8C, but there are no intersections for Map 8C -- it's only a straight N/S path.)

Based on the above explanation, the reason I likely never saw it again was because after mapping out the entire system, I never took the left path (which causes the Easter Egg) ... because I always knew that it would never lead me to the exit !

And it's likely why you didn't see it, either, Tawmis -- the walkthrough took you directly to the exit for Map 8A as well!

I have a save game right when I entered the maze entitled "Oh HELL NO" lol
So I could see about trying to trigger it later.

I've beat the game, but been saving all my save games as I play through.

Just rendering the video now. (Which has also been problematic... each time I render one of these videos a new problem surfaces lol....)

Phew - pretty sure I fixed the audio sync issue (same thing I saw in my SQIV game)

I may redo the non commentary playthrough for SQIV too, if I can fix the audio timing for that.

But for SQV... this thing landed at 6 hours and 15 minutes, for the non commentary. And 45GB.

So it's going to take awhile to upload. :D

I think you mean "bumbling", not "bubbling". Unless Roger is in a witch's pot! ;)

"Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble", etc. ;)

Quite right. Though maybe bubbling works - because when I got to the maze I was so furious my blood pressure was bubbling. :D

Space Quest V Play through - as of this post - Youtube is still "Processing HD Version" - so 1080p isn't available yet - but should be one day... it's only been like 24 hours since it's been processing...

Commentary version is almost done rendering - and will be uploaded, and probably fully HD before the non commentary one is. :D
