There is. I had to look up where it was located.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 6:41 am Hmm -- now I have a question!
I've been called into the Ducal court, where some Rude Duke What's-his-name challenged me because my stronghold is apparently on his land. (But he never did anything about it, so he can bite me). Anyway, he's now resorting to a whole bunch of under-handed tactics etc., and I know I'll have to fight a battle against him at some point.
My question is this: before this battle, I thought I'd get rid of this "What comes from below" quest and went down there. I got as low as level 8 (go team! ) and finally found a fampyr (I think?) that I can actually talk to. But no matter what I do, he attacks me - along with the rest of his cadre - and he turns my party against me, too.
Is there a way to talk to this guy without this happening?
If you have already learned the Engwithan language (from Icantha in Heritage Hill), you can talk to him and avoid a fight. He asks you to kill all the other fampyrs on this level for him. Once you've done that, he is willing to share information about himself and Od Nua, and let you pass. After resolving The Master Below, and possibly(?) through diplomatically convincing Od Nua to "let go" (as opposed to killing him). The player will be able to remind the ancient fampyr his name is Cabiros, although the fampyr recognizes the name, he does not believe it's his own. If you don't speak Engwithan, fighting him is your only option for proceeding to the lower levels.
