 Nice call-out to Diablo.

It's a damn inn! Bullcrap I am wounded people!

At the healer's hut: knock. Knock louder

Why on earth did you pick so many flowers?

Hmm. I didn't hear a call-out to me at the kobold area? Not sure what happened there. *shrug*

Push over the candle thing? You mean the candelabra? ;) Little hint: you have to push it before the three stooges get halfway across the table.

With Yorick, just remind him about his name and about Elsa he'll move so you can do it in peace. :)

Yay! :D You've become a hero and get back to the castle without every other monster trying to kill you!

Thanks, Tawm. That was fun. :)

Would have been funny if that got a unique response!

I thought she would "reset" and need to buy more each day.

I end up in the Kobold area twice - I think it's the first time - I talk about how I spelled "past" - which in hindsight, I actually did it correctly.
Last night, for some reason I was thinking it should have been "passed" - no idea why, other than - as I said somewhere in the recording - it was almost 1am.
I saved the game as "Made it past bear" or something - and I commented, how I realize I spelled it wrong - and how you'd call me out for it.
And how I was doing HQ/QFG because of how you've commented on my other videos.
But again, in hindsight, I used the correct word. :D

After multiple deaths, I finally figured that out. For some reason I thought the rope came first.

Yep. All you had to do is type "talk to Yorick" or "Ask about Elsa" and so on, and Yorick would leave you alone. ;) Try it out! Just ask him before you start moving on his screen, and he'd be like "Hey, cool! You're a friend! I'm gonna let Elsa know!" :D

Whoops! Yes, I missed that. (And yes, getting "past" the bear is right. Getting "passed" the bear isn't. ;) But yes, your hero "passed" the bear) ;)

Since Hero's Quest/Quest for Glory 1 came out - I've replayed this game from then to today, about 10 times.

And not a single time did I ever know you could stop Yurik from being a jerk. :D

How did you come to find that out? Walk thru? Or does someone say something about Yurik and Elsa?

I think you're supposed to put two and two together -- not only that she is the Brigand Leader, but that he's the Brigand Warlock. There are lots of clues from other characters, so why wouldn't you question him about Elsa?

I've only ever played the VGA version with the point-and-click dialogue tree, so it might be easier to discover this fact while in the "wacky room" than the HQ/QFG EGA parser version...

Other NPCs mention that the court jester joined in the search after Elsa was taken from the castle. Yorrick himself admits that he finally found her after two years but couldn't reverse the enchantment. So, he stayed with her to protect her honor as she grew to be a beautiful young woman amongst this band of thugs and ne'er-do-wells.

The part of her being the brigand leader was obvious. The Warlock part, I never connected to Yorrick. Until this thread. I never got the impression he would ever leave the wacky room. He reminded me too much of Keapon Laffin.

Just like this play through - I'd totally forgotten he leaves with Elsa.

So next time I play it a few years from now, I'll probably forget again. :D

Reviewing the Resource Files for some more hints...

• 'Enry the 'Ermit mentions that he knows the Brigand Warlock; he's got a great sense of humor, and 'Enry giggles just thinking of him.

• The Wanted poster for the Brigand Warlock states:
"Reward of 30 gold coins for the Capture or Death of the Brigand Warlock. Description: short, ugly, and wears brightly colored robes. Has habit of laughing continually. Inquire at Spielburg Castle gates."

I don't think I (ever - not just this play through) asked the Hermit about the Warlock.
I remember the reward poster - which - I think it would have helped if someone mentioned somewhere that the Baron's Jester or whatever - went out to try and find Elsa.
Heck - it might even say that somewhere, and I missed it.

I was something like 40 points away from the max score. So I am sure that was some dialogue I missed somewhere.

Hmm. I think the guy who opens the gate for you mentions Yorick, the Baron's jester. I'm also pretty sure that the baron mentions him (when you meet him once and once only, after rescuing Barnard the Bear Jerk). :P

I also think Wolfgang (the adventurer's guild guy who always snores) also mentions Yorick, if you ask him about the Warlock. (Why wouldn't you? The quest notices are in the same room) :)

Ah, yes. I believe the Baron says something about the Yurrick never being seen again.

Oh course, the focus is on rescuing Elsa, not discovering what happened to 'alas poor Yorrick.'

The warlock's mentions are more off-hand, and not necessarily germane to the main plot -- despite his heroic efforts of finding Elsa and staying with her for the last 8 years as her protector, who really cares who he is, you know?

And couldn't he have gotten word out to SOMEONE that he found Elsa and needs help dispelling the enchantment? Spielburg isn't that big a place, you know... ;)

========================================

Again, having the dialogue tree in the VGA version rather than the EGA parser system will guide you to all those potential topics without having to make much effort on the player's part...

Although, I do wonder: do you have to look at his Wanted Poster to trigger the future Warlock topics? (To "know" about him, therefore you can/should "ask" about him?) Or have him mentioned in another NPC's exposition for his topic to trigger?

Or are his topic always there in the dialogue tree without yet knowing about him (by not triggering them from any other relevant NPC dialogue mentioning him, and not viewing his Wanted Poster)?

Yeah! And who knows if he left Spielburg before the snow fall and that's why our hero is there? :D

You'd think he'd go ask... you know... a powerful wizard... that lives in a big house... there in Spielburg.... who is a powerful wizard. :D

Yeah, that's the benefit with "remakes" - you can go back and see where some stuff might have been weaker and change it - so making Yurrick as the more obvious "Warlock" in question.
