You'd think he'd go ask... you know... a powerful wizard... that lives in a big house... there in Spielburg.... who is a powerful wizard. :D
To be fair, Erasmus is a loner-type. Even if he could be bothered to help Elsa, what would he do by himself? The Baron's soldiers already tried assailing the kobold (another powerful magic-user) and failed, so what would they do against the brigands?

Or then again, they could simply be the Soldiers Who Don't Do Anything. :D

Oh, you know, combine forces for the better good. And he can't be too much of a loner. He has talking mouse/rat that never shuts up.
And he does say he enjoys paying a game (if you know magic).
And he tolerates visitors who can answer the gargoyle's questions.

Finally watched the commentary version last night. Cool that you played the original Hero's Quest version. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there a super rare version of Hero's Quest II that was released before they changed the title?

Around 47:30, you type "throw rocket" instead of "rock". Intentional? Otherwise it makes for an amusing typo. Rockets would make the fights much easier.

I do like that creature don't drop loot like in most RPGs. Sure, you can harvest claws from the cheetaurs, but you don't get any gold coins.

I've only actually played the remake myself.

Definitely a typo. :D

As far as I know, Hero's Quest was rebranded before Quest for Glory II came out, so to my knowledge no Hero's Quest II came out, because it'd already been settled.

And from Wiki -
The series was originally titled Hero's Quest. However, Sierra failed to trademark the name. The Milton Bradley Company successfully trademarked an electronic version of their unrelated joint Games Workshop board game, HeroQuest, which forced Sierra to change the series' title to Quest for Glory. This decision meant that all future games in the series (as well as newer releases of Hero's Quest I) used the new name.

I think I prefer the original QfG1 to the remake, because the combat is (slightly) easier. Other than that, it's basically the same game ... except that the graphics go crazy every once in a while (especially when you enter the centaur/garden screen). :)

I agree that "creatures don't drop loot" twist makes the game tougher, but it's also more realistic. (In "Skyrim", for instance, I can kill a wolf and get a gold ring, or kill a rat and get a diamond. WTF?) :P

Clicking on characters also spawns a dialog tree which makes getting information (and scoring points) much easier. You just exhaust all of the options versus having to find a new key word each time (ask about brigands, ask about brigand leader, etc.).
