This is really stupid ...

Post by Rath Darkblade »

... but I have to ask. Why, in the name of sanity, would anyone buy this? Or this?

I'm sure there are collectors out there who probably will buy these. I just really, really wonder why. :P

In the meantime, this looks like fun. :)

Not sure for the first one at that price; but the second one, because (not sure if this is a thing outside of the US), there's an "Ugly Sweater" tradition people do during Christmas gatherings, and typically have contests.

Yeah it's now being done, I suppose they'll do anything to sell overpriced stuff.

Ah, OK. Well ... the Aussie Christmas is in summer, so I doubt anyone will wear a sweater here! ;)

A Windows sweater for $5,000 is outrageous. *looks up the "Ugly Sweater" tradition* From google and other places:

Ugly sweater parties are gatherings where party attendees wear the tackiest holiday-themed sweaters imaginable. These events became a beloved Christmas tradition within the past couple of decades.

It all started in the 50's. Ugly Christmas sweaters made their popular appearance in the 50's with the mass commercialization of Christmas. They were first known as “Jingle Bell Sweaters”, and featured discreet Christmas themed decorations. But they were never intended to be “ugly”; they were actually artistic and joyful. *shrug* So ... from artistic sweaters to Cliff Huxtable-style ugly ones (from "The Cosby Show"). Oh, well! ;)
