I need some help with visual quality issues.

So after a great deal of frustration and effort, I have 'Torin's Passage' working on my computer. The only problem now is that the visual quality is not that great. There are vertical, dotted lines going across the screen. I remember this happening when I played it many years ago on the old computer, but I don't remember how to fix the problem. Does anybody know how to take care of this?
