Are you the rock the cheetah is lying on? (If so, what is it with cheetahs lately?)

NBS ... sorry, nope.(But good guess. I'm neither a cheetah nor a cheater -- or even a wind-cheater) ;)
Tawmis wrote: Fri Apr 01, 2022 12:54 pm As for me, QFG2 will always be tarnished for me because of walking through those stupid hallways in the city. The control on that is ridiculously stupid.
The streets of the city? The game-box has a map. :) If you type "Look" when you come to any intersection, the game tells you which street you're on and where the intersection leads, which you can then check against the map.

To start with, you're looking for a street called "Dinar Tarik" (IIRC). The money-changer is found there. From the first plaza you're in, just head down to the second plaza (with the magic shop etc.), go to the plant salesman, and turn left into the streets. Then follow the map, keeping careful notes of where you turn so you can get back once you exchanged your money.

Once you're back, head back to the Katta Inn and buy a map and compass. Now you can use the map in the actual game (hit Ctrl+M to bring it up), and warp around the city effortlessly. :) You'll still need the game map to find special locations like Aziza, WIT (the wizard school), the astrologer etc. - but once you find them, they'll be on your game map permanently.

I think it was a measure to stop people from pirating the game back then. ;)

Are you the rock in the pool?
Tawmis wrote: Fri Apr 01, 2022 2:24 am As I said, I've not played any QFG (other than HQ for my channel recently) in well over 5 to 10 years. Easily.
And I usually only replay QFG1 (usually EGA). So QFGII, III and IV I know less. And QFGV I don't think I ever beat - or if I did, it did not leave any kind of impression on me.
If you never made it through QFG5, it might be a good idea to do so while you can before a new Windows version makes it unplayable. It seems to be fine in Windows 7, after that, who knows. DOS games will always run fine because of DOSBox, but earlier Windows games start running into problems.

It's not the rock in the pool either.

Would you like a hint?

Not just yet. I think we can still narrow it down. I'm just wondering about "kind of" found in the savanna and "kind of" found in a fixed place. The rocks would be fixed so... are you the horns of the antelope?

Then this should just be process of elimination. I count 5 rocks. It's not the one with the cheetah or the one in the pool:

Are you one of the rocks on the edge of the pool?
