All looking great! :D

What is that 2020 one about (with the lady butterfly spitting at some kind of giant?) I'm finding it hard to figure that out.

This one?

It's from ElfQuest.

What it is - is the "butterfly" as you call it - it's a Preserver (think Pixie, or Sprite in D&D terms) - small, humanoid, with wings, who "spits webs" (there's a reason for it, but I won't spoil the story) ;)

And the giant - isn't a giant - it's an Elf (specifically named Cutter), swinging his sword at her, trying to fend off being covered in webs.

Inspired me to make an ElfQuest thread, because Rath (and whoever else) really should read the original quest, which ran 20 issues.

Did this one as a "speed color" - to see how quickly I could color it in 30 minutes and how it'd come out. :D

Mostly love this one because three of the women are from ALPHA FLIGHT (a comic I enjoyed) - Left to right: Marrina (Alpha Flight), Invisible Woman (Fantastic Four), Snowbird (Alpha Flight) and Aurora (Alpha Flight).

Nicely done. :) Snowbird probably didn't take long, yes? It's "only" her face, crown-thing and bits of hair. ;)

I think you might've forgotten the title and the Marvel logo, though?

Yeah a lot of times, I won't do the logos and such - and do something with the background to make it as if it was more 3D - like, in this example, the four women standing in front of a blank cover (with lights on it).

Pretty good. :) A bit darker than the original, but eh.

I noticed two things here: the original has the words "The Uncanny", which you omitted. On the other hand, the artist's signature (bottom left) is blacked out in the original.

I presume Gambit is the one on the right. So who's the dark-skinned person next to him? And why is he called "Gambit"? I tried looking that up, but couldn't find it.

I didn't omit the UNCANNY portion. It's missing from the B&W image. :)
And the black box, yeah - because it's different than the B&W image too. In the B&W, Stan Lee's autograph is in there.
Usually I am (like in this case) lazy about the background coloring, and just focus on the characters.

As for Gambit, he can "charge" items with kinetic energy. So he can charge a card with kinetic energy and throw it as if it were as heavy as a baseball - and cause it to explode.

Looking good. :) One tiny nitpick: the face of the guy in the yellow-and-green is a very dark red. His eyes and nose etc. are black. That makes it hard to see his face.

Maybe Marvel could hire you to touch up their old covers! :D

Also, 50 cents for a comic book? Wow! :D Prices of comic books have really plummeted recently. :P (I kid, I kid) ;)

Yeah - I also - looking close - missed a spot to color. :D

I often get lazy when I do these "speed runs" - and just focus color on the action, and just one color the rest (like the logo, upper left faces, etc).

And yeah... 50 cents... back in the 80s when comics were affordable... these days they're anywhere from 2.99 to 3.99 for a normal comic. 5.99 for specials.

Ridiculous.

But Marvel already touches up their comics, they re-release digitally. And I am nowhere near that beautiful level.

For example - the cover, recolored by Marvel, for their digital release -

I apologise if there is a thread just to discuss comics, but I can't find it. :|

I simply wanted to call attention to this: Pappy's Golden Age Comics Blog

It has some classic comics there from the 1950s, and probably before, which I found to be very amusing. Maybe you might laugh at them too? :) That's all!

Hah! Ye can always make a new thread! :) It's allowed! :D
I'd not heard of this blog. Older comics are always so... campy. When I re-read Avengers (all digitally), and was reading the early issues, it was a little of a struggle.
