Re: Sierra Madlibs!
My turn, I think?
King's Quest IX: So Very Tired of Manannan
Prince Alexander PAST TENSE VERB through Mordack's castle, searching for a way out. What foul magic had brought him here? He wasn't his father; he wasn't trying to rescue his f---
"Aha!" A voice from the past cackled. "Creeping and spying, are you?" *ZAP* "Drat--!"
Alexander started, cold sweat pouring down his BODY PART. I know that voice! That's Manannan, the evil D&D CLASS wizard who who kidnapped me and enslaved me for 17 years--!
Finally aware of the audience, he held up a sign that PAST TENSE VERB "As related in the events of King's Quest 3. Available from all good game stores."
Meanwhile, the voice said "Meow!" in an PAST TENSE VERB tone. Then Cat-Manannan sat down and started to SOMETHING THAT ONLY CATS DO.
Alexander thought about sticking his tongue out at Cat-Manannan, but that would be cruel. Instead, he said under his breath, "Go away, puss!"
The cat hissed at him. For a second, its head became Manannan's head, and the wizard shrieked, "PUSS?! When I get back my own body back, you will be in so much--"
The rest became a "meow!" as the cat's morphogenetic field reasserted itself.
Alexander's mind PAST TENSE VERB ADVERB. Last he'd heard of Manannan, the wizard had been trapped in the body of a cat. Graham had told him that the cat-Manannan had fled to Mordack's castle, where Graham found him and imprisoned him in a sack. Yet here he was, making threats against Alexander.
With all the wild magic around, Alexander supposed that the Transform to Cat spell was wearing thin. What might happen if it snapped ADVERB? He didn't know, but it was probably not a good idea to be around when it did.
In one of his darker moments, he thought it was too bad he didn't learn a "Transform to Roach" spell, so he could cast it on Manannan and step on him. But that would be SYNONYM FOR "CRUEL". As Graham had often told him, "Don't be cruel."
To be continued? Maybe ...

Whoops! I think I got the first two of these in the wrong order (i.e. "Body Part" and "Verb" should be "Verb" and "Body Part"). *blush* Let me put them right.

Done? Already? Let's take a look:
King's Quest IX: So Very Tired of Manannan

"Aha!" A voice from the past cackled. "Creeping and spying, are you?" *ZAP* "Drat--!"
Alexander started, cold sweat pouring down his BIG TOE. I know that voice! That's Manannan, the evil BARBARIAN who kidnapped me and enslaved me for 17 years--!
Finally aware of the audience, he held up a sign that DANCED "As related in the events of King's Quest 3. Available from all good game stores."
Meanwhile, the voice said "Meow!" in an SOMERSAULTED tone. Then Cat-Manannan sat down and started to LAND ON HIS FEET.
Alexander thought about sticking his tongue out at Cat-Manannan, but that would be cruel. Instead, he said under his breath, "Go away, puss!"

The rest became a "meow!" as the cat's morphogenetic field reasserted itself.
Alexander's mind SANG QUICKLY.
What might happen if it snapped GINGERLY? He didn't know, but it was probably not a good idea to be around when it did.
In one of his darker moments, he thought it was too bad he didn't learn a "Transform to Roach" spell, so he could cast it on Manannan and step on him. But that would be SADISTIC. As Graham had often told him, "Don't be cruel."

I post something shortly.
Shouldn't this have been an adjective, not a verb?Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 5:49 pm Meanwhile, the voice said "Meow!" in an SOMERSAULTED tone.

Re: Sierra Madlibs!
Probably. (Whoops).
Then again, a voice can say something in an "INSULTED" tone, too - and that's a verb or an adjective.

Re: Sierra Madlibs!
A word derived from a verb that is being used as an adjective (like "insulted" as you mentioned) is a participle. But it is still an adjective.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 2:52 am Probably. (Whoops).

Similarly, a word derived from a verb that is being used as a noun is a gerund (e.g."I like swimming.").

OK, I'm not all that familiar with participles.
