For no more effort than they put into these releases any number of people in the Sierra community could have released these games in a matter of weeks, not months, with better results.

NO XP COMPATIBLE WIN VERSION OF KQ6, dammit!!!

At least they will be good for all of those that do not yet have some of these games.
That really....stinks.
But I'll probably order them anyway. My old CD's are no more.

It's still a good deal for those that don't have them. As I reported on the Sierra boards, King's Quest is currently # 6, Space Quest is # 9 and Larry has made it into the top 25 at #21 on Amazon's best sellers list.

That's pretty rocking. I am glad to see it's doing well so maybe VUG will get a clue... (Although if the newest LSL is any indication - I almost hope they don't do any new ones, but give us a REAL compatiable version of these games...)

Whoo hoo! My wife sent me this picture from her cell phone about what came in today...

Now if they'd only re-release a few other choice games, Phantasmagoria, Torin's Passage, etc etc. Smile

I'd like to get hold of CD versions of Laura Bow, myself.

These old classics... heck, the prices they're fetching on eBay should be an indication of their enduring popularity! Why is no one from VUG taking a hint from the outrageous prices the King's Quest Collection 2 is fetching?

I would like to have the stand alone versions of LB, too, but they are of a lower priority than other things as I have the 2nd KQ collection. It was like The Roberta Williams Anthology without Phantasmagoria, which The RWA only had the first chapter, anyway. Besides the KQ games (minus MoE) it has both LBs, Mixed-Up Mother Goose Deluxe and several early Sierra APPLE ][ games. I lucked out and found it in like new condition in Half Priced Books a couple of years ago for only $50US.

Um, gonna disagree. Playing it right now in XP. NO problems at all. (And not sure if they're using DOSBox to do it - unless it's going through a Windows Launch Shell thingie...) But yes KQ6 on WINXP, no tweaks, works with mouse, sound, graphics, full screen, everything...

Although the opening graphics flicker... But the gameplay is fine. And interesting. Alt tabbing out of the game closes it! Just an FYI!

The reason that I want an XP compatible Windows KQ6 is for the higher res graphics that the Windows version had over the DOS version.

*grumble* And KQ4 still has the copy protection in the beginning so ye have to open (or print) the PDF included on the CD. They should have removed that, hrmph!

- Also no EGA KQ1... Just the VGA one!

This is a known issue that has come up on the VU forums. Try Alt+Enter to windowize the game.

That is why I have a cracked copy of KQ4. I have at least 3 legitimate copies of the game and find this form of copy protection really annoying. I don't mind the one in KQ6 as part of the game play and since you only have to get through it once per game.

Collector, is there a way to 'crack' my copy of KQ4?

There's a few off hand with that bothersome form of copy protection...

Leisure Suit Larry 2, Laura Bow, Gold Rush, King's Quest 4... I am sure there's other... I managed to "crack" my Gold Rush and Laura Bow ... and I also know there's one phone number that always works in LSL2 (Al's birthday I think it is)...

Jules, PM me here or on VOGONS, not on the VU boards. Besides, I almost never see my PMs on VU, as you may have guessed. I need PMs to slap me in the face to notice them.
