Are you found in a non-Earth fantasy setting?

Hrm. Can you define "fantasy setting" - to me, that's elves, dragons, and wizards (such as King's Quest) while others might say anything that isn't "real" is "fantasy" (such as Space Quest, though I, personally, would call it sci-fi).

Re: Who/What am I? (The Yes/No) Game.
I think the crucial phrase here is "non-Earth". What would an "Earth fantasy setting" be? *thinks* Are we thinking of horror games (like Phantasmagoria) or or thrillers (like Gabriel Knight)? I mean, clearly sadistic, brutal mass murderers exist on Earth, but cults that try to reach out to Tetelo are exceedingly rare.
Anyway ... are you an alarm that the hero/heroine can ring/press/etc. (e.g. a bell, a button etc.)?

Yes, but what if a game - like Space Quest (which is non Earth), but it does visit Earth in Space Quest III?Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 4:42 pm I think the crucial phrase here is "non-Earth". I am not an alarm of any kind (bell, button, etc).

I consider fantasy to be swords and sorcery, dragons, elves and the like. I added "non-Earth" to exclude the Conquest games which, while quasi-historical, could be considered fantasy because of the use of magic.

Earth fantasy? Or Non-earth fantasy? *confused* Or both?Tawmis wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 2:05 amI am not in a fantasy setting, then.notbobsmith wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 10:50 pm I consider fantasy to be swords and sorcery, dragons, elves and the like. (Huh. Is the Sierra forums under attack or something? *confused* First, it wouldn't let me even see the forums - or even the sierrahelp domain. Now, only some of the emoticons work, and the others ... don't show up. *shrug*
Anyway ... are you human?

Yes.Are you found in a non-Earth fantasy setting?
No, meaning yes.
Yes or no?
Yes, to non Earth, but no to fantasy.
Which is why I asked for clarification.
But screw it.
As for being human, I, myself am not.

Re: Who/What am I? (The Yes/No) Game.
Right. So here's what we know so far:
- In a game with "Quest" in the title
- Not a fantasy setting
- Not an earth setting
- Not an alarm that the hero/heroine can ring/press/etc. (e.g. a bell, a button etc.)
- Not human
Hope that's clear as mud.
So you're not human. Are you an animal?

Re: Who/What am I? (The Yes/No) Game.
Are you in a Leisure Suit Larry game?
(What? The things that happen to Larry are clearly not something that would happen in on earth, to anyone, ever. Well, maybe to James Bond. But no-one else.
By LSL7, it gets ludicrous. He jumps out of a burning building, in nothing but his underpants, and yet he has the money to go a cruise. All right, Larry gets Room Zero, but surely he would have to pay for permission to stay there? He'd have to pay someone who uses Room Zero or does maintenance there -- Peggy the Pirate, maybe? Or am I thinking too logically about this?
And while we're at it, Larry is on the cactus in nothing but his underpants ... but in the next scene, he has his leisure suit again. Where did it come from? Ah, I know - the new clerk at La Costa Lotta, Ian the Invulnerable, put on his PPE and risked his life to save Larry's leisure suit. And Larry's wallet. Oh, it makes so much sense now!
Sounds plausible?)

I misread how one question was asked - because... I guess, technically this is yes, I guess.... but they don't really ring the alarm, but they can interact with what the alarm comes from....

Uh, but none of the Larry's have "Quest" in the title, which you cited as knowing.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 9:41 pm Are you in a Leisure Suit Larry game?
