Quest for Glory 5 help, and QFG4 question

Ok.... I have the QFG anthology because QFG and KQ are by far two of my favorite series of all time and basically made me the avid gamer that i am. The anthology i have is the old one that only has 1-4 on it. I have QFG5 separately. Well, for some reason i never go around to really playing 5, and found it in my room while i was cleaning and though what the heck, lets give it a go. Ive always wanted to play it, but was kind of wanting to wait around for AGS's QFG2 remake, but just cant wait anymore. Well, it installed fine, but crashes to desktop when i try to play it. So i was looking for patches, and got directed here. I got the QFGWin2k patch, but when i run it says i need the 1.2 patch. Got the 1.2 patch, but when i try to run it, it says:
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.
How do i get around this problem. I currently have DOSBox .63 which i have no problems running QFG1-3 on which brings me to the next problem.

When playing QFG 4 on DOSBox, the textbox appear and then disappear as if im pressing something within a second or two. Will some type of patch on the patch page fix this issue? Im more concerned about the QFG5 problem as since ive played thru 1-4 many times im basically just going thru them lightning quick with a walkthru so i can import a hero to QFG5.

If you need more information about my system, or what programs i use i will def supply you with it, although for some stupid reason my comcast slows to basically a halt over night for the last week for some unknown stupid comcast reason (man cable internet monopoly is just unfair). Please help me and looking forward to whatever answers the community might have. Thanks in advance.

PS Im also getting that same error message i get with patch 1.2 with KQ7 from my KQ collection.

And a huge thanks for allowing me to join your community.

1) Missing AUTOEXEC.NT

2)
I currently have DOSBox .63
You really should be using DOSBox .70. The version that you are using is two versions old, soon to be three versions old. There have been many huge improvements since, both in terms of compatibility and performance.

3)
When playing QFG 4 on DOSBox, the textbox appear and then disappear as if im pressing something within a second or two. Will some type of patch on the patch page fix this issue?
Most likely, you have not mounted your CD drive or your RESOURCE.CFG is not pointing to it.

4)
PS Im also getting that same error message i get with patch 1.2 with KQ7 from my KQ collection.
Which collection? You will want to install the DOS version to play it in DOSBox, otherwise you will get the firecracker bug.

Watch out for the bear traps Tawmis keeps around the exits to keep anyone from escaping tawmis.com. Also, don't step on our pet troll that is usually under foot.

Sorry Collector ive been on vacation and got back yesterday so im ready to resume QFG4 so i can finally get to #5 the one i havent played yet somehow. Anyways, I have Windows XP. Computer specs are 3.4ghz, 2gigs ram, Nvidia Geforce 7900 GT. Running on DOSBox .63. Hope that gives you the information you need to make a diagnosis.

Also.... I want to run my DOSBox full screen, but when i hit alt-enter on QFG4, It doesnt sync up vertically. I have a feeling it might just be my monitor unfortunately because on my monitor options i dont have an option for vertical size for some reason. I have an options for Horizontal position and size, and an options for vertical position, but no vertical size. Would installing the new DOSBox maybe help that, or is it probably just a monitor issue. My monitor is a flat screen proview, and under my display properties my monitor is listed as plug and play monitor if that means anything.

Thanks in advance collector, you are truly a vast resource of knowledge for these old school games and i really really appreciate it. You getting my old favorite games to run i cant even begin to thank you properly the way i would like to.

You really should be using DOSBox .71. Install .71 and unzip this into the DOSBox folder, overwriting DOSBox.exe. It is a special build of DOSBox that Qbix gave me to address issues with sound issues with some Sierra games in DOSBox.

DOSBox won't wipe that out. :) Don't worry.

Well have another problem. I cant beat ad avis at the end of Qfg4. I know how to do it but ad avis is way way to fast. I cant get off the final spear throw. I tried downloading DOSBox .71 but its still the same speed. I need someway to slow it down. Any suggestions. I went to the patch page and none of them listed a way to slow that part down.

*edit* Actually the newrisingsun patch might fix the end, but it says you should start from scratch after installing and i really really dont want to do that considering im 5secs from the end. Will installing this patch screw up my current saved games???

*edit2* Well i figured it out. First i slowed down the emulation and he killed me before i could even get the staff turning into spear animation, so i figured what happens if i speed it up. Well i became Super Powered, Super fast hero and punished him before he even started laughing at the joke :)
