I love notes like this. What's the stuff under "Rada" for?

Those are the symbols for Gabriel Knight 1 - the "Rada Drums" - that you play when ye get underground to start the ritual process.notbobsmith wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 12:36 am I love notes like this. What's the stuff under "Rada" for?

Re: Let's Play Sierra Games - Quest for Glory II
Wow. That's a lot of notes - especially about Codename Iceman! Yes, I figured the "Rada" notes would be for Rada Drums in GK1.
The other notes here (i.e. 10-1, 10-2 etc)... are these the radio codes in PQ1?
Also, what's all this stuff in pencil on the second page (i.e. H-8-G 5-8-3 etc.)? *curious*
Yep, the dispel potion requires a griffin feather and a fruit of compassion. I guess you've spoken to Aziza about that, since I can't remember anyone else mentioning it.
Also, the apothecary in QfG2 (Harik Attar) is a special name. An attar is a fragrant essential oil, typically made from rose petals. In Arabic, "attar" (whether used as a name or surname) is also a reference to a person's occupation as an apothecary or perfume-maker.

With that game, you need it.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 3:52 am Wow. That's a lot of notes - especially about Codename Iceman!
They're either from Police Quest or when I played Blue Force. I can't remember which ones those are for.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 3:52 am The other notes here (i.e. 10-1, 10-2 etc)... are these the radio codes in PQ1?
Codename: Iceman. You get random codes sent to you - and you need to decipher them using those coded letters from Codename: Iceman, then enter the deciphered code into the computer, to get the secret message.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 3:52 am Also, what's all this stuff in pencil on the second page (i.e. H-8-G 5-8-3 etc.)? *curious*

Re: Let's Play Sierra Games - Quest for Glory II
Got a lot of money fighting... (side note - don't go into the desert - just exit the city and follow the wall - less likely to get lost)...
Bought the new sword...
Seems to help...
But is there a way to change Centine to Dinar (the smaller coin to the larger?) I am carrying like 550 centine and like 60 dinar. Would love to convert the centine.
Went to the money changer but can't seem to figure it out if it is possible?

Re: Let's Play Sierra Games - Quest for Glory II
Hmm, there's 100 centimes in a dinar IIRC. So that's 5 dinars and 50 centimes?
Maybe just buy lots of stuff that only cost centimes (like lots of snacks from Sloree and Scoree). I think their Lizard-on-a-stick, or falafel-in-a-pita, only costs 95 centimes.
I'm not sure about the money changer, sorry. I never made that many centimes.

I started giving them to the beggar. Then I gave the beggar a Dinar - and noticed he had a different response - and my honor went up.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 6:18 pm Hmm, there's 100 centimes in a dinar IIRC. So that's 5 dinars and 50 centimes?

So I began dumping both on the beggar.
Pretty sure he's technically richer than I ever was now.

Re: Let's Play Sierra Games - Quest for Glory II
Yeah, I've wondered that too. It normally wouldn't be much of a problem except that each coin has its own weight. So carrying 500 centines is 100 times heavier than 5 dinar. But as far as I know, there is no way to convert. It would be nice if the game drew from the centines first when you paid for something. But then I can imagine the annoyance of the shopkeeper as the hero starts counting pennies.Tawmis wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 4:05 am Got a lot of money fighting... Re: Let's Play Sierra Games - Quest for Glory II
That's currently my problem is my weight that I am carrying - and I am literally carrying just essentials. But I have like 640 centimes - and like 192 dinars. If I could convert those centimes to 64 dinars, that'd be excellent. Because from what I have seen, giving the beggar a metric ton of centimes doesn't really do much for honor compared to a few dinars. So if I could convert the centimes to dinars, I'd be more than happy to give it to the beggar than repeatedly "give coin to beggar" (enter), F3, (enter), F3, (enter), rinse and repeat; just to get rid of them.notbobsmith wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 10:55 pmYeah, I've wondered that too. Logically, you'd think a Money Changer would be excellent for this (and I know she's a part of the Thieves Guild or does something with them from what I remember) - but this would give the Magic User and Fighter another reason to visit her (to convert their centimes to dinars), giving her repeated usage out of the other two classes, even if she was to "skim some off the top" for processing fees ("Normally it's 100 centimes to 1 dinar, but times are rough; it will cost you 125 centimes to 1 dinar.") I'd be happy with that.

Re: Let's Play Sierra Games - Quest for Glory II
I just checked QfG2 for the meals you can get from the kattas. (Sorry, my memory isn't that good. Yes, yes - Awwww, why not?!)
Anyway, you can buy either saurus-on-a-stick OR falafel-in-a-pita for 70 centimes. (Yummo, dinosaur on a stick). They also sell rations (i.e. lizard jerky), which is five for one dinar.
So if you wanted, you could get rid of your 640 centimes by buying saurus-on-a-stick ... um ... *pulls up calculator* um, 9 times. Plus a bit of change left over. And you could use your change to buy some flowers for Shema - 10 centimes a pop! (They also help your honor. Your Honor? Are we suddenly in court?)
"If you keep counting cash, then I'll dash with a splash and turn you into ash, Nash! This is not a bank and you smell dank, Hank. Pay, Ray, or go away!"
... and if you keep doing it ... he follows up on his threat, casts a fireball, and does turn you into pile of ash. "I warned you, Jim, but your hopes are now slim. If you want a resurrection, then correct your imperfection. Hope your game's saved, you knave!"
(Sorry)

Wouldn't it be fun if the hero started counting centimes? Just for a goof, you know. But then shopkeepers would have to shut him down, hard, to keep the game going. I can just imagine Keapon Laffin doing it.notbobsmith wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 10:55 pmYeah, I've wondered that too. Re: Let's Play Sierra Games - Quest for Glory II
What I ended up doing was testing a theory that NBS mentioned - that if you got something and ye didn't have enough Dinar to cover it - if it would dip into the Centime count. And it does.
So the beggar got like 150 dinar total (and I was down to 0 dinar and 2 centime... but money is so easy to get now...)
It was also great for my honor score.

You could root around the source code to see.

I might after I am done. Wanna avoid rooting around source code to avoid being reminded what to do.
And wonder if it would be "programable" as a "patch"

Just wondering: if the beggar has 150 dinars, doesn't he stop being a beggar? That's more than you had when you started the game. (All right, I'm thinking real-world).Tawmis wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 4:26 am What I ended up doing was testing a theory that NBS mentioned - that if you got something and ye didn't have enough Dinar to cover it - if it would dip into the Centime count. Re: Let's Play Sierra Games - Quest for Glory II
Just did the EOF thing. There's talk of leaving to Rasier soon, which is near the end, from what I remember (no spoiler tags or anything please).Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 5:33 pm Seriously, though, how far have you gotten? How high is your honour score? *curious*
Honor score is 200. Weapon Use is 200. Strength is 200.
Like I said, that beggar made SO MUCH MONEY off of me.
And it got to a point, where it got pointless leaving the town.
The potion/pill maker guy only buys so many claws and so many stingers.
Once he stops buying them - it's pointless to go outside if you have money (which you get pretty much each time you beat an elemental).
So now my "hero" isn't really a hero. He just goes to the Guild and practices, pops some pills, practices, pops some pills, rinse repeat. Go get water when needed.
I've taken him outside to go throw rocks.
Just to get throwing up a little.
