Re: The Sierra Help Pages
Look on Collector's page. There's an EASY way to get QFGV to work on your pc no matter the specs (well, unless it's UNDER the min requirements for QFGV... which I seriously doubt!)

Re: The Sierra Help Pages
It should work with Windows XP.
If it doesn't work off the bat - simply click the launchable file (SIERRA.EXE, SIERRA.COM, QFGV.EXE, or whatever the heck it is), right click, go to PROPERTIES, then COMPATIBILITY and set it to Windows 98 (and possibly 256 Color mode, but I don't think QFGV needs that)... Collector could probably tell ya for sure. Or even give ya a better way to run it. (I don't thinkl QFGV runs with DOS, or I'd suggest DOSBox, which is like my favorite thing ever!)

Re: The Sierra Help Pages
It... sorta emulates DOS. That's the idea behind it. It's the best thing ever. Since Soundcards today are nothing like soundcards back in 1980 - DOSBox makes it so it emulates it all so perfectly! Ever single DOS based Sierra game I have run - I have done so successfully with DOSBox. If I loved DOSBox any more, I'd have it tattooed across the top of my back, with the words "4 LIFE" below it.

I'd have to dig it out to see if it does (it's current packed away with the rest of my MANY Sierra games...)

No...nooooo, don't get him started on his Sierra collection! Egads!
You know, sadly, the only older Sierra games I've played have been the Krondor games
Sierra published a good handful of great games 94-99 or so, but the 'classics' before that I hadn't touched! Did Sierra develop them or just publish them?

Re: The Sierra Help Pages
The classics are 100% Sierra back then. Krondor isn't all Sierra, as its based off the books...Tak! wrote:No...nooooo, don't get him started on his Sierra collection! Egads!

Re: The Sierra Help Pages
Krondor was a Dynamix game. Sierra got the rights to it when they acquired Dynamix, but Tawmis is right, most of those old adventures were Sierra originals. Sierra was a real pioneer. They developed the very first graphical adventure game (Mystery House, which is now freeware and is included with the Apple][ emulator on The Sierra Help Pages) and were largly responsible for the development many of the major advances in computer gaming. They more than any other advanced the use of audio in the games, from the adoption of the MT-32 sound module to synchronized speech.
When it came to adventure games, Sierra was always the leader and main innovator, bar none.
