Ah yes! Absolutely right (on both counts).

Patti's lift ride down the building. Shudder. (And her 'accident' with the Xerox machine... er, what?) *shudder*

So - are you in Gabriel Knight 3?

(It doesn't really have FMV, nor is it horror, nor is it a 'Quest' game...)
No
Rath Darkblade wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 6:23 am That's funny ... I could've sworn the Gabriel Knight series includes horror elements. (GK3 features kidnapped babies, demonic rituals, and Gabriel suffering hideous horror-related deaths, for a start. Of course, it's also the most 'cartoonish' -- if I may use that word about GK3 -- in the series). :)

Are you in Gabriel Knight 1?
No

You jumped to conclusions about being in Gabriel Knight. There are a lot more 90s games you haven't ruled out.

Yes, but there aren't as many 90s games that don't have 'Quest' somewhere in the title. :P

Having said that, there are quite a few. So let's run through them ...

Are you in Rise of the Dragon?

Sigh. Once again, the forum deleted my question. :x It was: "Are you in Heart of China?"

I won't ask that now, because now the answer is obvious. We've also ruled out The Adventures of Willy Beamish. ;)

Are you in ... *thinks* The Dagger of Amon Ra?

(Now for some reason, that game reminds me of cheerleaders, doing a silly dance and chanting "AMON RA! RA! RA!" or "WHAT'S THE THING THAT LAURA SEEKS? WHAT SHE HUNTING FOR A WEEK? DA-GGER! DA-GGER! YEAH!!!") :D :P

Um, sorry ... what? :| (OK, I understand this is from some film called "The Mummy" -- which I haven't seen, and have no interest in. ;) I know Egyptian mythology quite well, and used some of it to write a book I just finished ... so ... meh). *shrug*

I suppose the only thing this has in common with "Dagger of Amon Ra" is that "Amon Ra" and "Imhotep" both have 3 syllables? Is that the connection? *raises eyebrow*

You mentioned the -
(Now for some reason, that game reminds me of cheerleaders, doing a silly dance and chanting "AMON RA! RA! RA!" or "WHAT'S THE THING THAT LAURA SEEKS? WHAT SHE HUNTING FOR A WEEK? DA-GGER! DA-GGER! YEAH!!!")
The clip in question goes to a scene in The Mummy (a very fun movie! Don't watch the Tom Cruise remake! Blarg!) - anyway - not so much the three syllables - but rather the CHANTING you mentioned. They're chanting "Imhotep"'s name - like you mentioning the "AMON RA! RA RA!")

When ye mentioned Egyptian chanting, that's what I thought of.

(Did I mention it's a very fun movie?)

Ah, fair enough. Who's in it? And not to worry, I don't like Tom Cruise either. Ugh. His character in "Two and a Half Men" is so shallow and pretentious, it makes me sick. (From what I understand, Cruise is like that in real life. Or was, anyway).

Fair enough about the Egyptian chanting, but I was thinking of cheerleaders doing a silly dance while chanting "AMON RA". I don't think anyone would watch "The Mummy" if the cultists marching into the pyramid and chanting "IMHOTEP" were dressed in short skirts, jumping up and down and doing the splits. :P

Also, I know quite a lot about Egyptian myth. So when that "academic" figured out that the golden thing was for Horus, I thought "What took you so long, lady?" (Horus is, of course, one of the best-known Egyptian gods, the helper of Ra, the symbol of Pharaohs, and played a key role in the story of Osiris and Isis ... among many other things). ;)

You're confusing Tom Cruise with Charlie Sheen. Sheen was in "Two and a Half Men".

Brendan Frasier starred in "The Mummy" and has had a career resurgence of late.

NBS, are you in ... *thinks* Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist? :)

And yes, I confused Cruise with Sheen. Whoops. I'm not sure why, but their faces look very similar to me. *shrug*

IIRC, the last movie I saw with Cruise was "The Last Samurai", and I was quietly impressed. The film-makers obviously did some research on samurai arms, armour, samurai 'culture' and parts of the bushido moral code. (Of course, bushido and samurai 'culture' are vast subjects, and had to be condensed to fit in a film). Thanks for correcting me, NBS :)
