Torin's Passage - agreed - beyond question.

Jules is also amazingly correct when she says "PLAY THE OTHER TWO CHARACTERS". <dangles a large watch in front of Nameless> You are becoming somnolent... your senses are dimming... you can hear me but your ability to resist is gone... Now listen up. You must play QfG1 as the Thief and as the Magic-User. And you will enjoy it. And lo, so it shall be."

Laura Bow is another must-play.

Freddy Pharkas - yes! PLAY IT! You will adore it.

And the Police Quest series, as Tawm says, are well worth playing. The series really does kick off more with PQ2, although PQ1 is very cute. However, you have to "think American" when you use the phone. You have no idea how stumped I was at that part... I kept dialling 000.

Well ... actually ... I just spent something like six hours downloading Ground Control (a real-time tactics game released as freeware to promote its sequel), and I was also going to try Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe (a tactical realistic shooter, also released as freeware to promote its sequel) soon, so it might be a while before my next exciting review.

(Hmm, should I be using the :D or the  emoticon here?)

If you ask Alm, she'd say neither. :D

Quest for Glory has a special place in my heart. Heh. I don't care if that sounds sappy, cause its true. I was about 6 years old when I got my first PC. An OLD OLD rig that ran DOS only. It had some educational games, Wolfenstein 3D, and a lil game called "Hero's Quest"
I played Hero's Quest more than any other game on that rig, even though I sucked at it back then, but I kept fond memories of my afternoons spent goofing around. I never played the others until that Collection package was released. Needless to say, it cemented itself in my mind as the best series ever, and I was so pleased that they were making a new one. I must confess, that even this last time I played through the series, taking my char from game to game, and finally taking the throne of Silmaria....
When the end credits ran, and the "Hero's March" song starts up near the end of the role, I feel a real twinge of sadness that its all over.

And by the way, Nameless...
The EGA version of QfG1 is MUCH better than the VGA! :)

Have you given other Sierra games a whirl because of Hero's Quest/Quest for Glory?

Only King's Quest. I played 4 and 6 ALOT as well. Haven't really sat down and played through that series, or the other Quest series. I did however, pick up the complete King's Quest Collection a while back, (The older one, with Laura Bow and all the extras with it) as well as The 4 Most Wanted Police Quest collection. I stay away from the new releases, mainly because they only include the remakes of the 1st games, which I think is a bonehead move. As soon as Collector gets around to making that new installer, I'm going to dive in PQ. I'm still looking for good deals on older Leisure Suit Larry and Space Quest Collections. EcoQuest doesn't interest me at all. The only other games I'm thinking of looking for are the Conquest games. Also, Codename: ICEMAN looks interesting to me, but I've read about its more annoying features, and I fear I may smash something if I try to play through it. Has anybody found a crack or a patch that would eliminate the save game limit on that one? I think that would be a worthwhile project to tackle.

Iceman, I have ironically, yet to ever finish. I die - a lot - in the sub thing.

Heh. Thanks for the links, but as I said, those are the ones Im staying away from. And I already have the King's Quest and Police Quest games.
Im looking to by Leisure Suit Larry: The Ultimate Pleasure Pack. It has all the games, including Softporn Adventure and other goodies. You may like to know that the new XP enabled collection doesnt have the last game on it.

I already have all the Sierra games. Well about 99% of them. Was just slapping a link out there in case you were looking to find these. I know they don't have the EGA versions (or I don't think they do?) in those versions for the 1st ones (it's the VGA remakes).

Aye! Very Myst-like. Also played Shivers (1 and 2) as well as Rama (which I don't think I ever finished... not even certain if I finished both Shivers games).

Only from the 1st person view. It is not nearly a static as Myst. I find it a lot more interesting than Myst.
