They should know about it, considering that it was Edward G. Robinson's last movie. In fact, I believe he died shortly after filming his character's death scene.

We rented that on netflix a few months ago. I didn't even know what 'soylent green' even meant, let alone that it was a movie title. :P

You mean you never heard a single reference to it? Comedies use it all the time. :o

I was just joking when I said it, but perhaps dotkel should have really used spoiler tags.

Being an old fart i forgot how old that movie was (1973) and that most of you younguns probably never heard of it  . It wasn't that great of a movie anyhow.
Planet of the Apes was better (I won't give away the ending to that one).

Spoiler tags for a 1973 movie? :D Isn't that excessive? :D It's like putting spoiling tags on King's Quest 1 EGA!

I've heard it mentioned before, but never understood the reference, since I haven't seen the movie.

PotA is a movie everyone must know by now -- and I mean the 1968 film, not the abysmal 2001 remake.

There are some movies that you expect everyone to have seen, even when most of us were not yet born when they were made. After all, 1939 is widely considered the greatest year for Hollywood and I don't think that there is anyone here that old. I would be very surprised if someone here has not heard of at least a couple of movies from that year.
