I got it as part of a KQ pack on GOG, and it starts. That's the good news.

The bad news? When I try to start a new game, the graphics stutter, and the game grinds to a halt, because I can't see anything.

I don't have Windows 11, but have you tried this? It says that it's been tested up to Windows 10. The page was updated in 2020 which was before Windows 11 was released, but it might be worth a try. Otherwise you could try contacting the author and see if he is still active.
