You had said yes to being found in the city - and you're not an inventory item - so you're not used in the city (by the hero).

And you said you're not a living thing.

Notbobsmith -- no, I am not at the oasis.

Tawmis -- yes, but not around all the merchants. (Big clue!)

(Rule out anyone selling inside - or ruling out people outside)

Nope, not an outside merchant.
